Hi,

I'm replacing a speedo cable on a 1990 Kwaka Eliminator.

Do I need to lube the new cable before putting it into the "tube"? If so, what's the best thing to lube it with?

TIA,
Mully.

Myself I'd grease it with greasy grease.

Right, so just rub it on the cable as I feed it into the tube?

It's a brave man coming in here asking for advice on the best lube...

I don't know for sure but would suggest something like chain grease. Sticky fibrous lube that will do a triple act of:
1) Lubricating
2) Not flying off in the heat or over time
3) Sealing out dirt to a reasoble degree

I have some of the spray on stuff at mine if you need a squirt - bowl on over after the 28th if you need it.

I've got a spray can of chain wax - you reckon that would be a goer? Saves me getting some grease.

28th no good to me, Miss Mully wants to ride NOW!!

I think it should be pretty good but I'm no expert in the area - just general engineering principles applied (as best I recall them...)
