Looking to improve the performance, sound & look of this bike. (In that order ;))

Any recommendations? Don't want to spend half what the bike is worth either!

It currently has quite a short pipe and I've seen a pic here on KB of one fitted with a much longer one, it looked quite good. Are there any ramifications of doing that? (E.g. would it get in the way of the pillion footrests?)

Thanking you in advance of your most thoughtful responses :niceone:

You could try this as the cheap option for a start.....
Take 12mm drill bit & drill straight thru the end of the exhaust pipe.....I made 8 spaced evenly around it......will sound like a Ducati now.
Take off tank....Remove airbox lid & take afore mentioned drill & drill as many holes in the top as you think looks groovey.....Clean filter while yer there.
Remove gay snorkel thingey's at front of air box & throw away.....If you want more out the pipe you gotta let more in ......
Reassemble airbox making sure all clean like...
Next time its in for a service get them to lift the needle in the carbs (optional)
Thats all I did to my 650 & she was a lot more responsive all round, & it was often mistaken for a Ducati when it was on song.. but not to loud.

www. hawkgt. com is a great bros site...

No, don't do any of that.
Sorry, puddytat, but this isn't a good idea. It won't really add any performance (just noise), and when it goes for a warrant the tester is not unlikely to go, "Hmmmmmm... this exhaust is modified - automatic fail!" because it's obvious it's been drilled.

If you do modify or replace the zorst, MsKABC, and it ends up popping on overrun or running a bit lean, it's very easy to fix this: you just take the carb tops off, lift out the sliders and put a washer under each needle seat. I did this on my VFR750 and VTR1000, both of which had modified mufflers. I used some small washers from a box of computer printer spares, which were exactly the right size and thickness for the purpose.

Where is the smilie for "Righhhht...that went right over the top of my head?" I will make sure my right-hand man/most excellent mechanic/husband reads this though, thanks :)

Try this one:
Or this: :blank:
Or mebbe this:

Sorry - didn't mean to go all technical on your donkey.
Just bear in mind that if you go drilling holes'n'stuff, that it's not easily reversible, and could get you in trouble with The Man.:Police:

And if you decide to fit another zorst, and the bike doesn't run as well as it could, it's easy and cheap to fix.

Thanks for the washer tip, I haven't even made room in the garage to work on it yet and already the pressure is on to have it road ready for the next fine day.

Lies, lies, all lies! I prefer to think of it as an incentive-based reward system :blip: Anyway, who wouldn't want to get back out there riding asap when they've been out of the saddle for 18 months??

I thought they were all great ideas & certainly made a noticeable increase & performance on my one & I put 40000 ks on it....& it cost nothing.

But I live in a small town & the local mechanics still have common sense....

Ms K ,you could try it till you get a new one sorted & like I said, hawkgt .com
has all the answers & a lot of cool pics.
