2009 and beyond

Hey newbies, just got hold of my first bike, CB250 Hornet (like loads of others it seems!) ... did the learner licence test through Rider Skills, and whilst it was the scariest two and a half hours of my life and I ended up with a major headache ... I got through it first time and toddled off to the bike shop - and now am out on the roads (stalling at a number of right hand turns and praying that green lights stay green, whilst looking at the road for potholes - never knew how flippin' average our roads are until now!!!) ... also trying to suss out how to turn the headlamp off.. maybe it just stays on all the time?? Anyone know?

Congrats on the new steed.
Headlight most likely hard wired (stays on all the time). Why do you want to turn it off?

MMMmm, that's cool - it was off when I bought the bike and rode it home.. thx for the advice .. now back to practicing those hill starts!

Even if it does turn off, I suggest you leave it on all the time - it's good for helping other road users spot you :). As for the stalling - be smooth in your actions, don't try and do things too quickly. First comes right, then comes fast as the old gunslingers of the west said :2guns:

As mentioned, tis best to leave your headlight on, to increase your visibility! :msn-wink:

& it is important to always keep your eyes up & looking ahead of you!! & not at the road in front of you. You need to be scanning the environment at all times, collecting information, so that if you see a perceived/threat you will (hopefully) have time to take action (throttle off, brake, counter steer, stop.. whatever) to avoid a nasty situation! :eek:

sweet im a learner to ive got me the good ole gn250 will be getting my restricted licence this week.i had the same symptoms as you bro when i first started riding i prayed for the lights to stay green ,good times.and theres the hill starts and what not.personally im finding slow traffic riding hard yano nearly bumper to bumper and i have to keep ma feet on the pegs.i cant really give tips cause im a learner to or newbie but just practice starts and stops at traffic lights (not draging or swerving when taking of)
