Hi people, Im completely new to the site.

Does anyone know where in NZ could I source the old style 'Çlubman' or 'Áce' handlebars? (not Clip ons)
Need to fit them to Norton Dominator - am in the process of 'Cafe' styling it.

So far, they seem to be like Hens teeth ...

cheers
Paul

Motomail in Auckland used to have them in their catalogue about 3 years ago - may be worth phoning them to see if they can still get them. They also used to list a very nice set of fully adjustable ones - similar to the ones Lavarda used to made for the early big triples.

And try www.britishspares.com in Wellington

Or international

A 69 Dominator? Must be a Mercury? Rare bike!

erm - from many miles of experience on a cafe Atlas two things come to mind.

Running ace bars or clip ons means it will handle odd and feel like a pile of crap comfort wise unless you fit rear sets as well.

Ace bars or clip ons are likely to foul the stock tank unless you run them quite wide or at least trap you thumbs at full lock. Can be done though!

I'd measure the fork tube (33mm??). If it's 35MM then I'd use a swan necked clip on set for a Moto Guzzi V7 Sport as these are very adjustable for height but still have the look. You will need an aftermarket headlamp holder though (good idea for the proper 'look')

Measure the tubes - if they are 35mm you are in luck cos lots of wog bikes have 35mm. You can get em from these guys

http://www.mgcycle.com/

OR call Pete n Debbie at Moto Kiwi (TOP people)

http://www.motokiwi.co.nz/

Pete might be able to source something suitable.

Also try Alan Bland at Bland Brothers in ChCh - hes been building brit race bikes since forever or Andrew at Motorcycle restorations. Another bet would be F1 engineering or Cycle Torque.

Having said that - if the Mercury is restorable you might want to go that way, they go for a decent amount being about the most desireable of the dommies.

Some Manx Nortons came with a type of swan necked bar as some tracks were more like motocross ccts back in the day. Precident is set.

The tomasselli (sp) aftermarket ones are super adjustable
