I have a very noob question on Suzuki bike model names... looking on the Suzuki website, for example, GSX-R600K8, does the K8 mean that it's a 2008 model? Tried doing a search on this but have no idea how to search for the relevant info

By the way, is it just me or are Suzuki bikes generally cheaper than the other Jap brands? I realise they are great bikes and lots of people here on the forum have them, just interesting to see how two similar bikes (say GSXR600 vs CBR600RR) have such big difference in price.

Thanks!

Check out the FAQ for model naming conventions.

There was a single letter code until 2001; 1999 was "X", 2000 was "Y", 2001 became K1 and so on.
