Hello,

Anybody got any idea why my Suzuki GP125 wont run, it havent been ridden for a couple of months now, I always starts her up once aweek, went out a couple adays ago and it wont start, it just keeps back fireing and popping, it's got a good spark at the plug, I put some new petrol in her and nothing! It was running lovely before, the bike is kept in the shed in the dry so it cant be damp or anything, I did think it might be the battery low powered, but then I thought as long as some life is in there to give a good spark, the bike should still fire over and run, I just dont know whats wrong with the Bike.

Any advice would really be appreciated

2 stroke's often do this, if it sits for a while and you try to start it, it sucks a dollop of lube oil in and fouls the plug...

I had another go at it earlier, took plug out, wire brushed it up dried it off, kicked it over a few times with the plug out to make sure it wasn't flooded, I put plug back in kicked it over and it ran for about 5 seconds then it cut out again and wouldn't run until I did the same all over again.

Might be the carbs are dirty. Maybe from sitting, the float bowls have accumulated deposits which have blocked/partially blocked it... May also be rust from the tank...

Had a guy at work recently have something similar. His tank had a lot of rust, which then got into the carb bowls... It ran but not well...

I have exactly the same prob with the lil lt50's the petrol evaporates in the carb and the jets clog up.

I better take the Carb off and give it a blow through, yes I think your right it trouble does seems to be pointing in that direction, but not sure why it will run for a few second if I remove spark, plug give it a clean up then put it back in again

Thanks for replies, I'll let you know how I get on.

Do you recon this could be route of the problem, you mean it could be firing intermittently.

Replace the spark plug.

I recon you were very near the mark there, I removed the spark plug and checked plug gap in the manual, I dont know why but it was way off, dont know why this happened, set the gap and wham! running great now:), how can a plug gap open up so much when I have not touched the plug?

I wouldn't of minded so much if I rode the bike alot, would of been me to blame for not giving it a service regularly, but just to pack up like that, I did run the bike every week to keep things going, I suppose it aint enough, you got to take um out for a good run.
