Hi all,
I'm new to KB and think this site is a great resource for advice and sharing the passion for two wheels. I have had an interest in motorbikes for about 20 years. Got my first bike (an old knackered Suzuki road bike) at 13, then a Honda scooter as soon as I passsed my learners car license. I have had the obligatory break form two wheels since study, career and family arrived.

Over a year ago I took the plunge as they say and got my bike license and have been having a ball. I've done a bit of riding in OZ with my dad, but ride mostly around the Waikato (I live near Te Awamutu). Recently I sold the car and upgraded the bike :shit: so I am taking it easy and having to retrain my throttle hand.

I am thinking about doing some rider training (there is the amcc one at Puke) and track days so any advice on these, insurance, not binning it etc... would be helpful.

Cheers and safe riding :p:

BE WARNED...Track days are addictive but are well worth it especially if you can get people to go over a few tips while there and even ride with you on the track.

Binning...well apparently (I haven't tested this so don't quote me) at least one of the black rubbery, round things need to be touching the road at all times. You can have other bits on the bike touching at the same time but always remember to keep the rubber down. I'm looking at getting one of those "this why up" stickers which I think will help.

Welcome mate, and we'll try and hook up for a ride soon.

Welcome aboard dude,

Enjoy the site and take care of yourself. The KB'ers are a great bunch, certainly helped me out when I first started and still do now.

Cheers - FM

Thanks everyone for your messages. I hope you all get some good time in the saddle this summer.
ckai - hope to see you on a ride soon, and will try and keep the black rubbery things underneath me!

Cheers.

Kia ora Fire Eyes,
yeah, a rafting guide in Waitomo couldn't say my name and it kinda stuck.
You should definitely be on a bike in Brisbane. I have ridden round the dams and some of the roads south, had a great time except for both our hire bikes crapping out.

Cheers.

Hi Slofox,
yes I've met Brooke and ckai already. Hoping to meet the rest of the gang on the 7th or the 11th.
Nice SV by the way. I very nearly got one in the suzuki fest sale. I bet it is a lot of fun.
My new michelins are nicely scrubbed in now so my confidence on the big bike is increasing. Roll on the summer road trips!

Cheers.
