Well given the numbers I know of from Christchurch going KB will be adequately represented, along with myself and if she says yes the day before, (I know I wonder myself but till now she has not changed her mind), my blushing bride.
We will be arriving either late Friday (dependent on how the wedding goes) or early Saturday, HoT has promised to save us a tent site, hopefully she will save two as we have a 3 person tent and Dave- has a 2 person tent to assemble.
We would welcome any and all to join us at some stage for a toast to our union, or just to say giday.
And before anyone say jeez man you could picked better for a honeymoon it was the better half's idea.

The food will be typical rally fare RQ, i.e. pies, burgers, toasted sandwiches, etc. There's a few of us who take own, which gives a better feed. Depends on how much room you have. You won't need anything for the Friday night anyway...
On the Friday night it would be great if we could get together for a feed at the pub. The reason? Mrs S and I will celebrate a fairly significant wedding anniversary on the Wednesday. Pay for your own meals but we may pay for a round or two of drinks.
On the Saturday I think if we could organise ourselves a group ride (as much as dislike big group rides) in to Hokitika for breakfast, trip around Lake Kaniere, to Hokitika Gorge, and have lunch at Ross pub (or similar), then back to the site, would make for a great day.

This might be a good lunch stop... Pukekura. About 15 km's south of Ross. Their motto ... you kill it, they'll grill it... Wild foods are their specialty...
Their are some good places to eat in Hoki', if Rally fare is not to your liking...Reasonably priced too.

Jacksons to Woodstock is only about an hour, so a short hop really we should be there by around 2 ish.
Anyone who wants to join us please post and let us know.
I know its an easy trip to go all the way in one hit but I have to consider my bride, and as Dave points out its Jacksons, oh if any of you Friday guys want to meet us and Jacksons:drinkup::2thumbsup.
I suspect :Police:will be rather busy over the weekend, so hence the slower ride plan.

As D' has just said I'm back already, though does it really count if you don't even get there in the first place??
Well what a fucken day!!
All packed up and feeling pretty good and nice and comfy. Headed to fuel up and meet Rachel and Vic. Time was ticking on so I txt'd - wrong station, that was the first thing to happen.
Met up and headed off at quite a good clip rocking along to some relaxing heavy metal. Cruised on through a bunch of road works of varying degrees (look out tomorrow people, some are quite gnarly) and weaved through some nice wee roads.
A little past Lake Pearson though bike was feeling a little, um, washy. Thought I must have been imagining it, until it got just stupid so I easy her to side of the road. Discovered rear tire had a nasty flat spot on the bottom, seemed to stay there even when she rolled on...this was the second thing to happen.
Rachel and Vic appeared a little while later to help me sort things out. Much obliged for your time guys!!
Connie got stowed in the bushes hidden from direct view and I jumped in a speed wagon from hell, with Mad Tony, quite wife Kath' and sleepy baby, she was lucky not to be able to see the road!!
Texted Dangerous once I hit reception to see if he knew of a trailer that would suit the job and I think it was all sorted for me within minutes! So to D, SuziQ and Thunder, a huge :2thumbsup to you all. Perhaps if more people out there in the world were so giving things would be different??
Imagine this - A frazzled Steve, bike pants and boots on, carrying jacket, jersey, helmet, full bag, tent and tank bag. I jump on 2nd bus and ask the driver if it was the right one then passed him $10 for a ticket, he looks at me and says you need the correct coin. I bloody near screamed, did I look like i was planning to take the bus anywhere???!!! That was the 3rd thing to happen!
Home, and off to sort trailer and get my baby. At this stage I have eaten milo bar and a lift plus- I'm wearing thin!!
Managed to get trailer through the gate which was built by the same team that made the TARDUS. BTW your neighbourhood watch needs work lol.
Time was ticking on so by the time I got to other side of town through school traffic, i realised I had no way of getting Connie ON the trailer. 4th thing!! Fuck it and I drove on.
Past Springfield, then turned back to fuel up, the wee familia was thirsty. I also nabbed a length of wood for a ramp.
I saw 2 diff' Fire appliances and I thought I must have set the hills on fire with my hot pipes. Although we did clear the scrub away to be safe!
Two great people stopped for me and steadied me as I loaded up and locked her down. So many helpful people today - bar the bus driver.
Home James and off to Cycletreads tomorrow. Chatted to the guy today and it doesn't look good for me heading over tomorrow. 5th and last thing :baby:
:first:for anyone bored enough to read that whole rant
Have a great time y'all, time for a wee cry now

Jantar and I went up on Friday, left Alex before 10 am. Stopped off at the Blue Pools at Makarora for a look, as he hadn't seen them before. Then over the Haast pass and down into the West Coast drizzle. Which continued ALL the way to Woodstock. Did have a moment at Knights point. My fault... had said to Malc I was going to stop there, usually do for a look. Sort of tradition for me. He was ahead... and forgot. Saw he had stopped as I passed, slowed to turn, and as I did, front wheel went its own way on a white line. Low speed... walking pace. NO damage except to pride. Malc helped me get it back up on its wheels, checked it over...all ok, so continued. No further incidents.
For my own reasons, I returned on Saturday morning. Roads were damp in places, but mainly dry. Left Hokitika after refueling, at 8.35 am. Arrived home in Alex at 1.05 pm. NO tickets...or further incident.

bike was pissed off at me for leaving it outside in the rain for the night so was being a stubborn bitch.
got to arthurs pass was raining lighter there, and the sun was breaking through, had a pie, leaving arthurs the weather got better until the canterbury plains where the wind really picked up.

Well thats done and dusted.
Myself, lady H, MJScorpio, Mr MJscorpio and another mate of mine headed off Friday avo round 3 had a few.... Shall we say senic and refreshment stops on the way as some of the children havn't been over to the coast before. The rain started at Arthurs and came and went most the way to Hoki. Arrived at Woodstock round 9 after a feed in town the most over priced feed I've had in a while. Thankfully by then the rain stopped long enough for us to get tents up and do our hair and makeup  Friday night was damp and low key but good fun none the less.
Saturday brought with it mint weather and Myself, MJScorpio, Mr MJScorpio and mate (We shall call him Mouse) headed down the coast to Franz and Fox glaciers for a feed and look. Heres a tip don't go to Franz Joseph glacier on a hot day its quite a walk in riding gear. Got back around 6ish for another round of drinking:drinkup:. Burnouts were good possom chucking was a laugh and I didn't see the titty comp
Sunday was wet with drizzle and cloud and a wet ride back over to arthurs before the heat of a nor wester.
Twas a great trip with some cool people (namely myself ) and alot of fun.

We arrived about 3 on Saturday being a tad unprepared earlier in the day, who would have thought a suit hire place would not open until 10, but that's another story, after finding a space for the tent near a few of the KB crew.
After being told how lucky we were to have arrived when it wasn't raining, I was surprised the ground was as dry as it was so I figure sure they had rain but they must have had a great day, the other story we heard was of bikes dropping on the road rail bridge with a figure of 20 something being given, (which this morning I heard a figure of 40 plus). Once the tent was assembled and I had been to fetch supplies it was into enjoying the event. During the evening a Ducati was used as a bar, lemons and salt were consumed, as was I think the better part of a bottle of ginger wine, many beers and if the bottles seen outside a Christchurch lady Ducati owners tent were anything to go by some Port and Canadian club had a bit of a hammering.
A certain Christchurch chappie had a tad too much to drink as did a Clutha copper so it was amusing to see them stumbling around, looking for their accommodation, and come morning the Clutha bloke need some strong coffee to start the day off, come to think of it so did the lady with all the dead bottles outside her tent.
The rain made its presence known at some point of the night, one or two who had been attempting to dry their gear ended up with it wetter.
My bride and I had a quite night, as we were still a bit stuffed from the day before but both had an enjoyable time, looking forward now to march. Was great to meet everyone.

Well, met the usual KB rabble at the rally - tent space was at a premium but we squeezed in somehow, set up tent and went for a wander, had tea at the Woodstock pub and then started drinking, just to be social mind...as usual I got slipped a 'mickey-finn' and my jandals got all wobbly at around midnight and CB had to 'escort' me to the tent (again!!!).
So woke up a tad under the weather (in more ways than one, it was drizzling as we packed)
Rain started as we got into Greymouth and persisted down:crazy: until about Ikamatua then the roads got drier and drier.
Had a good cruise throught the Buller Gorge with a strong tail wind, made it seem like I was riding in my own 'bubble' of calmness.
CB and I are at Murchison now, staying the night.
Having a wine and thinking of what to have for tea........

Fucking stock take, meant I couldn't go to my favourite rally.
Thursday saw me in a state of depression, as I sat outside Famous Kelly's with a pint and a mate who was off to Hoki. Shit loads of bikes went rumbling past and my mood darkened, until I could have shed a tear into my beer:crybaby:
Got a couple of you groovy dudes to chuck some posters around, so hopefully Ghostybulletio ou were able to throw some around for me.
Went to a mates 40th in Kinloch and me and Tex did 19k of dirt road to the venue, what a bizarre wild and random night, ended up standing waist level in the lake after a dare, and a boat came into the jetty, they heard my mates and me partying from Glenorchy!!! and came to see what was going on, must have thought Christmas had come early, as there were 15 hot chicks, lagered up and up for fun.
They scratched their heads when they saw me in the water..........:killingme
So all in all though I had a fantastic time at my mates 40th, I had a nagging in my heart coz I wasn't at the Woodystock......Fuck and didn't I miss it.
My bikey mate has stopped again on his way back to Dunedin, but has been a real sweetie and not spoke about it too much, keep torturing myself and asking questions about it though:cry: IDB was an absolute star and didn't do the rally coz I couldn't go, which was a fab gesture, as I would have hated my playmate and best mate rallying without me.......................you continue to delightfully surprise me IDB, you're the best, dude.
Oh well, vincent is only 4 sleeps away I get there on the Thursday and as I am part of Bronz, I get to set up the camp with the rest of them, so willcane that rally, and go into overdrive about th Garston Rally,
C U at the Vincent Rally
I really do have a bad case of Rallyitus......and there is definately no cure, even a wild random and fun night couldn't curtail my sadness.........
Gnite dudes and dudess's from a solum Woodybee. Hugs to all of ya...................17 days till the Garston Rally....yikes

But as luck was on our side in the pissing down rain, the Pub proprieter had a 12v battery charger and we were on our way again in just over an hour and rode into a warm nor-wester to dry out.
Its a great ride mate! Hope you get to complete it one day!!

My old girl highly tuned?? She was just being a total bitch i think, for being left out in the rain for 2 nights
She started 2nd kick from cold, so gave me a false sence of security.
Either that or my nana (god bless her R.I.P) felt i was going through enough greif and tears, so that was the best place to break down.
A beer wasnt strong enough to quell my frustrations hunny :bleh:
But sure was a quencher by the time I got to Springfield

The rally was awesome... it was the ride... sunhot and wet was wicked, not know if the road was slippy or not... damn saw one fella on the way home slide and rather impressed he kept it, and bewildered how it happened to start with. Jacksons pub, always a great Venison Pie. The site was full and damp underfoot... pub beckoned with whitebait and it all got good and bad at the pub.... I think.... Sat was magic, up and out, the Shingle track around the lake is awesome even if every corner is single lane and blind.
Over to the gorge for misty blue water, and buggers on the swing bridge trying to swing every begger off.
Lunch and kanerie pub hot sunny, the site dry, very quiet drinks, an almost sombre evening. but all in all wicked.
The rant by the truck driver on the way home at Springfeild "No wonder so many bikers dead" (somthing to that effect) and likely very true... some dont really do the best or right things by the law or others on the road.
The Westcoast is somthing.... Ya have to do nothing but love every second on that side of the range!!!!!:scooter:

Ahh yes the truck driver at Springfield...not a happy camper at all, and who could blame him? Being passed on blind corners, being given the fingers for not letting bikes past when its not possible to do so, huge speeds when passing. Well done people. :(

the other story we heard was of bikes dropping on the road rail bridge with a figure of 20 something being given, (which this morning I heard a figure of 40 plus).
That was a mixed bag of stories surrounding the Arahura bridge  started with 7 bikes then 26 then 40+ though apparently it gave the workers a bit of amusement as they'd stop work to check for possible victims when bikes were heard approaching
Though on the ride over on the Saturday there was a bit of carnage with a Daytona deciding to straighten out a bend just past Porter's  the rider got a free flight back to ChCh with possible back injuries. And then not far past Otira a some muppet decided to take on a Car on a single lane bridge :slap: not good seeing a bike partially hidden behind a roadworks truck and the soles of the pillions High Heels & a Helmet left at the roadside
 The Possum tossing added a new twist to things  though half a dozen low flying furry projectiles meant the growth of extra eyes was a must :dodge:
Not recommended to have camp down the bottom paddock then attempt a drunken waltz back there in the early hours over undulating ground and zero lighting :drinknsin

Thats appalling D! Totally agree with the sentiments of your thread. The idiocy you detail (coupled with the Akaroa carnage) is just the excuse the pollies and Mr Plod need to make our lives a misery. All the good work done by the likes of RRRS and BRONZ to give bikers some credibility is being diluted if not destroyed. "We" really are becoming our own worst enemy
