It takes a lot to get my adrenalin going, these days.

Dunno. Maybe it's age or something.

On the race-track I get a bit of a buzz when I see I'm about to hit the putty unless I do something really clever, really quickly.

I get a buzz when some knob-jockey streaks by, so close I could have poked him/her in the ear, had he/she not had on a helmet.

But I think one of the biggest bangs I've had happened the other day, when three of us were going for the chicance out of the T8 sweeper at Taupo.

There's the two on faster straight-liners ahead, and me on Team Zimmeerframe...and Team Zimmerframe has the flash ne front forks, meaning I can brake really hard without doing the dance of of the Sugar-pum Faries.

They both braked, wondering who would brake hardest, first.

I puttered up between them. The contest was on. Three bikes abreast, 100M out from the chicane. I thought, 'Woo! I've managed this with munted forks. Let's leave the braking bit a bit longer!"

Mess this up, panic just a tad, pull on just a bit too much brake, and you get to tank-slap, probably high-side and probably hit the wall. Ugly.

But I've got the all-new forks.

The the very moment we all passed the first cone, my wheel was in front. That meant passing rider has to clear. So I let the bike run on.

Too rich for my friends.

I was through. Slight right then hard left onto the straight. Pegs being ground off.

What a buzz.

Next second, I hear the boys with the way-faster bikes winding up.

Yeah. You guessed it. I was last into the 'S' before the main straight....again

Did one of them on the outside during the last left. Felt really good, till he stood his bike up and opened the trottle. Sure enough, there I was, looking at his rump, about three feet away as we came into the hairpin.

Did him through turn 4. Then he powered past through T6.

'No fair! I demand a drug test, or at least the removal of one plug.!' :--))

But that one moment, (the chicane) when all three of us, where line-abreast, going in ...well, really quite quickly... and finding my mates bugging out first, was the highlight of my extremely short, racing/track-day involvement.

I just love this shit.

Top write up man:2thumbsup:

I know the feeling aswell because I used be on a 400 at trackdays and giving the bigger bikes alot of grief coming into corners. Id pass them on the brakes then they would pass me on the next straight and then next corner straight back out by them again:yes: So much fun:)

I dunno what group you were riding in, or if you knew your fellow combatants, but there's a difference between a track day and a race day. If your getting all competitive at a track day maybe you'd be better off at a race day.
It's run what ya brung in Clubman's and everyone goes in with their eyes open as to the possible consequences.
