We're holidaying in the Hawkes Bay and yesterday the starter in our V6 3.0 Pajero died suddenly. I've got my bike here to pick up a replacement and I'd like to get it fixed quickly but with public holidays and all I'm stuck.
Will someone please put me in touch with a wrecker who might be able to help and is within riding distance of HB. The casting has the following numbers "M1T7 12V 2583 3302".
TIA, Rob

I tried their phone and left a message on their website. I'm in Havelock North. Thanks for the tip. Fingers crossed.

I have my bike with pack rack so should be fine. I may have located one in Papakura. Might cruise up there tomorrow if I can't find anything closer.

Bull, great idea. If I can pick up a s/h one today or tomorrow I'll do that. If I have to hang around until Monday I'll locate an auto electrician.

I take it you've tried giving the starter a tap to possibly cause the worn brushes to recontact the amature or give the sticky solenoid a bit of a wake up.
Manual or automatic?

Great tip :2thumbsup Gave it a good huck out and it tested okay jumped directly from the battery. So I've refitted and problem solved... for now. Once we're home from hols I'll drop it out again and have it serviced by an auto electrician.

Reminds me of when I had my 91 Paj 3.0 V6.
I went through 3 starter motors. They are a weak point of the buses.

3 overhauled or 3 from wreckers? Starters are one of the things I'd never buy from a wrecker.
