What are you aiming to do (or not do) for this year on your bike?

My aims are pretty simple:

Get a lot less wobbly

Go as far and as often as the wife and wallet will let me

If those are your aims, perhaps you should consider doing the RRRS course on the 18th of Jan and you will have the rest of the year free.

Never did get the burnout thing - when I smell tyre smoke I smell money.

Back in the day on my sprotsbike (750 Katana) i decided to send off a well worn set of Bridgestones by doing my first (and only) burnout.

Tyre went bang and it then dawned on me that I still had to get to the shop to get a new one....

whups.

Perhaps get some of those "demerit" thingys.

Everyone else has them and they sound like fun.

Question: How heavy are they? If you have to carry them around with you, one obviously dosen't want to load up the bike too much and lower the power to weight ratio.

Usarka
2nd January 2009, 14:51
I thought they were good, like de-restricting, or de-baffling.

Only hard core bikers get de-merited.

Goals for 2009?

Run-in one's first-ever bought from new motorcycle in January.

Sell the world's best FJR1300T to a suitably screened discerning buyer.

Successfully circumnavigate the South Island counterclockwisely in March.

Complete successfully one's fifth Grand Challenge in October.

At all other times have a load of shits and giggles whilst out riding.

Be here to post one's goals for 2010 in 365-days time.

Break in my new Quasi leathers :first:

Familiarise myself with my new bike so that I feel comfortable enough to stop riding like a complete Nana. Upskill myself, especially in the areas of braking, cornering, slow speed stuff. Ummm, yeah, so pretty much everything really :o

Get to a track day and also have a crack at bucket racing.

Do: Two girls at once preferably sisters.

An old mate of mine is quietly living on minimum hours, smoking weed and watching t.v...
With his girlfriend and her sister, same bed, same shower etc etc.

Fuck I loathe him so badly.

*Tear*

EDIT: Did one of my goals for the year today, new rubber on the back.
Just a small smoked screen, touchup paint and regular cleaning to go!

I would like to give it a go around Taupo and Pukekohe. Problem with Pukekohe is it's such a high speed track, meaning the CBR will be redlining almost the whole time... not very good at 50,000+KM... Of course I will take it to the mechanic before the ride.

My other one is to put up signs around scenic drive. On one of the corners up a hill just after the corner that always has that wetspot and the gate on the right hand side (confusing I know!) there is no sign to say that there is a corner, I would easily call it a 35/45. When I first started riding, it caught me out many times, and to this day I still wonder why there is no sign. Just to save somebody's ass, it would be good to put an arrow stating it is a sharp corner.

Admirable ambitions on here so far.

My 2009 biker missions -
follow up successful 6R pass with 6F in Feb/May (depending on availability of 'suitable course' to fast-track)
Ride MORE / develop skills / be SAFE
Get racks or some way of carrying stuff for longer rides
Keep planning for REAL bike when I have 6F (confident...)

My goal forthis year is 1 To get my bike sorted out (thank you shaun) Then do a few trackdays ready for the 2010/2011 summer race season. Then (ohh please please) do the nats. Some badly unfinished buisiness there.
I'm not expecting the 1.2 or 3 on my bike just somewhere below 10 is the aim.

T'would be nice to do some mods to the bike, do some touring & priority #1, promote my better half from pillion to pilot. Bit of a worry though, I cherish her & it would take me awhile to be confident in her abilitys on a bike. Thats a reflection on me not her abilitys.

My goals:
1. Repaint the tank of my Thunderbird and powdercoat all the aluminium black
