Hi all
Wanting to take the old man & brother out on a fishing charter for a day, been some sad shit in the family recently so thought it might be good craic.
Can anyone recommend a good boat/captain for a day trip from Auckland? We'd be looking to hire the whole boat maybe 6-8 people give or take.
Muchos gracias bastaderos.
ps - i hate fishing so somewhere to park off and drink beer would be a bonus!

Can't help mate but if you're after someone to help fill the boat (and pay their way) yell out.
Good luck.

The harbour might be a little slow still. Best to head out further and deeper, like to the back of Motutapu perhaps?
Dr Hook runs a good charter. Dunno about the costs though.
Another alternative is a charter that heads out from Hellensville and goes out into the Kaipara Harbour. There are some damn good spots out that way!

Cheers mate, just left a message for dr hook the website looks quite good. We're pretty constrained for dates so keep the recommendations coming in
Would a "inner harbour" 8 hour charter normally head out back of 'tapu?

If not is it a waste of time or still worth a go anyhow? Any recommendations for the helensville option?
Cheers....

An 8 hr would be easy. At least to Sargeant's channel and that should be working by now.
The charter guys know where the good spots are and you will always come home with a fish or two!

Is Kiwi Angler still in biz? I had some good trips out with Dave/Steve Haddock (?) as captain a few years back. Bigger boat though, I think it takes 12-16...

Damo from the Charter connection is one of the best. Nice big cat so less rocking/sickness for newbies and the opportunity to hire all the best gear.

Its around 120 per day pp, normally for around 5-7 anglers afaik. Check out some of his trip reports, its a much more exciting style of fishing with the option of softbaits and light tackle for a small hire fee.
