HI, looking for new mates to ride with from Hawkes Bay. Live in Hav Nth.
Purchased a brand new DR 200 in Sept 07 after being away from dirtriding for 20 odd years & are still absolutely keen!!! In first 12 months did 11 organised trail rides, 5 Adventure rides(2 of them 470 ks in one day) & Barry's M Cycles
Flat Track Day.
Unfortunately 2 of the guys I ride with are now only doing Adv rides on their larger DRZs, another has fallen in love & doesn't go out as much & the other regular (& most keen )has moved to Taupo. Pref being for those with dual purpose bikes but not essential! NB My DR has been pimped. Knobblies, straight pipe & supertrap.....
Have a few photos in my Album of some of the rides!

Have a look in the HB weekend rides (meetings and events) - you'll see the regulars in there and they welcome anyone!

After checking this forum out, can only find ROAD bike chat! I,m a dirt bike/off road rider, also very keen to find other riders to ride to trail rides, change our front sprockets over to off road gearing, lose our tail lights/rego plates/indicators & go hard out! No probs sharing a trailer & petrol costs either to some events! Enjoy gravel & Adventure riding with others with similar bikes(or larger)!

A few of the guys have dirt bikes and do adventure riding too so just ask in the thread and they will be able to direct to the right place. Also look in the dirt bikers forum...

There are dirt riders there from my understanding ... pop in and add a link to this thread to get it going .... so they know this is here :)

the best place to find anything off road is right here. most of the off roaders seem to be from auckland with a spattering from the rest of the country.
also road bikers like to come into to off road section and post irrelevant stuff quite often without reading where they are posting.

We lost our best contact last year Our Loved Scottie RIP, he was our main Dirt rider. You best look in the local Rag or contact HBMCC a lot of rides up the Taupo Road in the Forests. If you want to get off that Suzuki and buy a decent bike I have a 2004 YZ250 twoo smoker for sale.:Punk:

Thanks, so sorry to hear that you lost your mate.
I'm originally from Palmerston North & use to ride my XL 175 to Manfield in the mid 70's to flag marshall & watch Robert Holden, Roger Freeth..... with mates. We even did 50 laps on Manfield, a sponsored ride I organised to buy 2 new bikes for the Stan Key Learners Motor Cycle School. Never missed the Cemetry Circuit & caught a couple Castrol 6 hrs before heading to the UK. A dirt rider but enjoy BIG BIKE action!:2thumbsup

Checked Silverbullet Events, next trail rides are Raukawa Hall Trail Ride on Oban Station,Valley Road 6th Feb followed by the Porangahou Costal Ride on the 7th Feb. Did the latter last year, great views if you have time to stop & look! Basically this is just a farm ride! Best local ride I did last year was the Puketapu Trail Ride. A brilliant blend of farm, pine forests & river beds!!Very well organised, extremely well marked trails & great food!!

My brother is down there and knows of some spots. the river is where most people would go. there is a MX track at the river that is closer to hastings on teh old road from napier and hastings.
Keep an eye out for the Guavas forrest ride. Not to be missed!

Did Guavas Sept 07, loved it! Even rang organisers Sept 08 re when it would be, but too dry to risk putting bikes in! Yes do the MX track at the river & have had some great practices! NB v hard, rutty, dusty in summer & a lake for weeks after rain. Ground too compacted!! Mainly young kids learning or crazy MX teenage riders!
Appreciate your input cheese. Thanks.

They occasionally open teh other river sites to bike. Me and my brother had a good blast a fair way down. We had to ride over some fences though. No one really seems to care on his trials bike. My big loud MX bike would probably piss people off though.

The Shereden Track was closed when I first got my DR in 07, not sure exactly when it closed. Have a feeling it may have been when HBMC Club became involved with the Valley Rd MX track! If anyone out there knows, do tell!
