Hi everyone, I've been a member for a short while now so thought I better let myself be known.

I bought my first bike in the late sixties, a Honda SS50, much to the disgust of my parents who had British bikes (AJS and Vellos) in the Fifties. My friends also had British bikes except one who had a Jawa.

My Honda was obviously slower but by far the most reliable. Often I was the only one to make it to some destinations. That bike never let me down.

In the mid Seventies my brother and I went to the UK on our OE.
He bought a Triumph Boniville (sp) 750 and I went with a Honda CB360.

The Honda never gave me any problems at all. I rode round Europe on it.

We sold the bikes and returned to NZ where I got married. Unfortunately she wasn't into bikes, so for the next 25 years I lived in the dark.

A couple of years back I separated from the ex. and with the added incentive of high fuel prices, decided to once more to take the plunge and buy a bike.

Since the separation money has been tight, so couldn't afford an expensive bike so decided to get a smallish bike to see how I like it and to retrieve my skills.

This is the scary bit, I now have to admit to the world that I bought a China Bike, a Lifan LF250. a Virago 250 lookalike. There, I've admitted it.

My hope is that I dont have to go through the same shit I got from my parents and friends in the sixties. I know there are people on here that will take me apart, so make it quick and painless and remember I'm only Little.

After 5000Km with absolutley no problems and my skills returning I'm orgasmic. Biking is even better the second time round. I commute every day from Helensville to Albany through Riverhead forest (Old North Rd) and Riverhead Road.

More than a few times I've screamed into my helmet RICK IS BACK, YEAH , RICK IS BACK!!!. I also find myself singing too which is something I don't normally do.

I'll sit back now and wait for the shit to hit, just remember I'm only little.

Rick.

Welcome Rick:sunny:
Don't be too worried about admitting to owning a Chinese built bike.
If half the muppets on this site knew where some of their own bike componnents were manufactured, they would spew.
Honda/Suzi/Kwaka etc are all sourcing out of China in one form or another, and since Lifan are the biggest manufacturer's of motorcycle/moped engines on the planet, then they should all bow to you.:shit:

Keep us informed on it's progress, as I am a supporter of most people who think out side the square. Hell, I have to be. I ride a scrambler:blink:

Welcome back to riding Rick
nothing wrong with your ride bud, plenty of them around, so they must be ok if you look after them.
have fun with the northerners, they can be cheeky, but will help you at the drop of a hat if you need any help.
keep the shimmy side up and the rubber bands on the road
ride on!

Welcome back to biking and KB! :ride:

The only shit you have to hear about your bike, is the shit that you "agree" to listen to! :shifty: Cheers, John.
