G'day all,
Some of you may have read here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=8721 that I have been having some trouble with the TL. Good news is that the problem has been found. Bad news is that it has a broken front inlet camshaft! New price for part is $560.00, i'm hoping that someone here will now somewhere on the net to get cheap Suzuki parts from??? Suzuki part number is "1270102F40." I will be looking on the net to see what I can find, but perhaps someone can allready recommend somewhere?
Cheers all
_daryl.
ps, no "suzuki v kawasaki" smartass comments required thanks Quasi!

Justa thought, Glens (speedmedic) getting a new engine in his R, maybe you can swipe the cams outta the old one for cheap??? if you haven't got something sorted yet?
The R cams are a bit more aggressive profile creating more top end hp, the R heads valves and ports also are slightly larger. But have heard of people swapping heads and cams round to suit there riding. think bernard had S heads with R cams in his TLR race bike, could be wrong though.

There is no real difference between the TLS and R head as far as ports and valve size etc.........what is different is the pitch on the cam gears,if you run a TLR cam gear wheel on a TLS idler gear it will have incorrect mesh. (fwiw)

Cheers guys, got it sorted now. Got one from GP Trading for $250.00. Better than $560.00 for a new one. Just got to wait for it to arrive so I can get it back on the road...

Dunno about bike cams but as far as cages go it's a fair risk it won't last if you put a 2nd hand cam into another engine and don't put in new lifters/cam followers and even then there's no guarantee.
Roller cams and lifters are o.k. but the old type? hmm...
Maybe your TL runs a roller set-up? Somebody out there will know.
