Dunno if this should be in "Meetings & Events" but is anyone else keen on riding over to there?
I'm going to take the Guzzi over.

I can do that indeed :)
Here's a pic I took at the Omaka airshow back in 2006.
It was a real mission holding the camera straight in the slipstream of the R-2800 idling !!!

Ta! I look forward to it!
I remember as a kid in the early 70s seeing a large four engine Douglas (DC
6?) on it's way to Norfolk Island, when we were visiting a beach somewhere north of Auckland.
Am I correct thinking that the DC6 had R-2800s? If so, I have heard them, but it was a LONG time ago.
I reckon I was born too late, I would love to have flown an F4U-1D or a P-51D...

You are quite right :)
Engine specs - 4× Pratt & Whitney R-2800 CB17 "Double Wasp" radial engine, 2,500 hp (1,700 kW) with water injection each.
RNZAF used 3 (ex-TEAL) of them as strategic transports in 1961 to 1968.
