What's involved? Reg has lapsed and I understand there's a process of inspection etc needed to get her back on the road?
That one's damage free... but while on the topic - what about cars such as this?

What kind of costs are involved outside of fixing it?

You need paperwork proof of it previously being registered and then you pay to get it inspected at a testing station. Like a WOF but quite a bit more anal. I haven't done it on a car but did a bike last year and it was $160 for the inspection (could be more for the car cos it would take longer to inspect). And after it passes another $160 for administrative fees which gets you a new number plate and new WOF and I think some rego too.

Oh and funnily enough when they inspected it the back brake rotor was too worn and they told me to fix and gave me a form to sign declaring that the brakes were fixed. Of course I did sort it out but I never had to bring it back for a recheck I just had to bring the declaration back for them to see which seemed a bit strange.
