View Full Version : Virgin Track Day?
Her_C4

With the CDMTC Track Day coming up this weekend and the VMCC one the following week, I wondered if there were any women who were intending to experience the track for the first time at Manfeild?
If so, let me know (post or PM) if you are agreeable to an interview (before and after) and some piccies  for an article that I am putting together.

I have only been on Manfield once on a 150. I think that a gal willing to take a tank out on the track would be a cool story?

I'm confused...
Pity I can't afford this one quite like the idea of two weekends in a row  oh well..will have to do some quality time with the family instead then

First time is always a gobsmacking experience isn't it? You start to get an excited glimmer of understanding of what both you and your bike are actually (and safely)capable of.

I only have one female track day virgin (yes - yes, so I wrote the thread title the wrong way around ) that has contacted me and is prepared to give me her all for the opportunity to be supported by Flame AND have five minutes of fame to boot?
There must be more of you out there that are going to either the CDMTC or VMCC track days - - right?
Good grief guys, encourage your ladies to get 'out there' and give it a go (if you haven't already).
(oh and PM me and let me know she said 'yes'.... :innocent:)

The article (and photo's) is for FMRiders Mag. It is a magazine primarily aimed at a female audience and my focus was intended to cover the whole day with one or two women who were new to the track.
I saw the article as an opportunity to share the learning experience with (and perhaps encourage) other women, who might be keen to give it a go.
I am happy to include a chap or two to give it breadth if you are keen and new to track days.
Come on ladies - it won't hurt and I promise to only take photo's of your best side AND you get to read and 'ok' it before it is submitted. :niceone::cool:

It could be a bit of a wait - I found a willing 'born again' track virgin ready to sacrifice herself, but still waiting for the real thing to flick me a PM and tell me that they are MORE than happy to help out.....

How about a non-track-virgin who will be just worried about remembering that it's not bucket racing and that it's not a race, so no dodgy passing manouvers, no blocking people trying to pass you, no taking others out and if I crash I'll hurt my precious baby (the bike, no I am not hapu!):msn-wink:
Nah, surely there's some lovely lady out there trying it for the first time? You might find someone on the day, maybe a non-KBer who is trying it out for the very first time??

Okey Dokey...
There appears to a dearth of (trackday) virgins ...and I gave up on finding three wise men many years ago, soooooooo...
I now have two lovely women that have offered to help me out with the article - THANKS ladies.
I would be really keen to capture all the ladies in their bike gear, on or near their bikes at some stage in the early afternoon next Sunday for a photo opportunity to support the article.
If we all spread the word both internal and external to KB we have a good chance of getting an AWESOME shot!!!
Vicki (Flame) has offered to be on hand for anyone that wants to ask any questions, get some tips etc, and will bring her road bike for a tootle around the track (just need to make sure that VMCC are ok with her going in the novice class for this) :sunny:
If anyone else is keen to have some input and wants to put up there hand - please PM me.:wari::soon:

The pace will be really cautious and suitable for pretty much any roadworthy set of wheels, so no need for any new riders to worry. It will be fun :)

Gee Chrissie i didnt know you started this thread about 1st time female riders doing a Track Day, as last weekend was my very 1st time in over 20 yrs that I have been in the riders seat going around a race track. It was a bloody awesome feeling riding out there on the Ninja and a great experience knowing and getting the feel of what it is like to go around Manfeild instead of standing behind the wall at our Vic Club race meets watching the racers doing it. Hoping to get out on ours this Sunday but my priority is making sure the day runs smoothly and helping out as much as I can to make it a good day for all those who turn up.

Have managed to talk a workmate into her first ever day on a track. She was not very committed at first but i told her about what you guys are doing for others and she is much more into it now.
One problem but...she does not have her licence yet. However has been riding dirt bikes since a kid and has (ahem)been riding on the road this summer.
Will this be ok to do VMCC track day?

Some knowledgeable person will be along soon to answer this for you - my recollection (such as it is these days:eek:) is that you do have to have a bike licence for Track Days but not for Race Days (but then for racing you have to have a race licence)....... I think<_<

Thanks so much for all your time today, I learnt heaps and was feeling much better on the bike every time I went out :niceone:
I have lots to think about and will be putting your wise words to use when bucket racing starts again.
aww ya welcome eh. Was really good to see you and Trudes all smilies at the end of the day. I could see you both getting smoother and quicker as the day went, and much more confident out ther too! Hope it helps yas.
Waaaaaa I want Flame to teach me something!!!!! When you likely to hit a Moto TT day or do I have to wait until I hit the roads of Welly for some advice?
Would like to do a MotoTT, but not sure when. I will try and make a trek to an AMCC round, and do the test day before if they have one like last year. So could see ya there:niceone:

With the CDMTC Track Day coming up this weekend and the VMCC one the following week, I wondered if there were any women who were intending to experience the track for the first time at Manfeild?
If so, let me know (post or PM) if you are agreeable to an interview (before and after) and some piccies  for an article that I am putting together.
Manfield track rocks!!!! I was almost a virgin when I hit it the other week. What is it that they say.....hmmm oh the first one never counts hahaha
