(not sure if this is the right place for this thread...)
Hey all,
Bit of a personal post, this.
I was engaged for a while, but a week or so after my engagement party she decided to end the relationship and left me to sort out the finances (wedding expenses, rings, the works).
I have two TradeMe auctions here (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=196475383)and here (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=196480263)for the rings and I am hoping to get as many people in the loop so I can get rid of them ASAP. Kindly have a look-see and if they aren't your cup of tea perhaps forward the links to someone who may be interested.
To speed up this awful process I am offering $50 per ring sold to whoever refers the buyer to my auction.
Thanks for helping me out guys.
Tim

Bugger mate it's the season for it - this is the 3rd serious parting of the ways I've come across in as many days!
I'll keep an ear out... and look after yourself.

Speaking from personal experience, not sure if we should offer condolences. You may be much better off in the long run. I wish I would split with my ex *before* rather than *after*.
I will keep an eye on the auctions. My missus is due a new ring in half a year and I might as well get it in advance.

On the plus side, you found out now rather than later. How about that receptionist you got? (it wasn't her right?) She seemed alright when I spoke to her... :wari:

Very true for me actually! Once the door to the latrine closed many opportunites have come up for me. Funny how that works! And yes after this whole process and her attitude towards the split I can see her for who she really is and am much better off without her!
PLUS! I'm single again! :shifty:

Too right mate - funilly enough I am not hurting emotionally anymore, just financially. The thing that really ticks me off about all this is that she gets away scot-free...with nothing to pay or nothing to sort out. Why? Because I was the dumbass who put all wedding arrangements, deposits, finance agreements etc in my name. Very valuable lesson learnt.
As for the rings, if the auction doesn't go to plan PM me and we can talk :-)

I keep saying i didn't know what happiness was till i got married !!
But of course then it was too late !
Even now twenty yrs later, she tried it on Xmas day at one of the kids place (only time i bump into her now), Pulled out some devorce papers and asked me to sign em ! Sure says i, whats yr address so i can send em back once i read em with my lawyer and sign em (after cheekily ribbing her about who the fool is thats proposed)
No No says she, just sign em now ! And starts flicking through the pages saying it only says this and it only says that !
I quietly reminded her that 25 yrs ago, i only said "i do" and it brought me 5 yrs of misery, lifted my beer to my lips and winked at her !

Well, not only am I lumped with all the bills for the wedding and rings, she's now talking about getting em to pay half of all the expenses she incurred while we were together. Im talking about dinners, gas, groceries etc! AND she won't give the engagement ring back saying "all things considered I think it is just and fair".
I also paid for these things along the way, I certainly didnt mooch off her! This is turning into a bit of a joke now.
What is it with people, trying to squeeze every last cent out of ya before the let it go? All I want is a clean break - I would have been happy to split our bills, sell the assets and split the difference - but it seems she is after anything she can get her hands on!
