I have read the odd post that mentions "under armour" clothing, supposedly available from sports shops and outdoor shops, but the search engine refuses to reveal the whereabouts of those posts...which brings me back to asking again where this stuff is available from...and maybe just what it is so that I can explain it in half syllable words to the dumbarse shop assistants (oxymoron if ever there was) that I have to deal with...
The local branch of Rebel Sports dude went "...aaaaaaa...wot...?". If paying peanuts gets you monkeys, this guy must've been paying THEM to work there...but shop assistants are another story....
So. Please tell me again about this...:baby:

Check out a shop that caters to horse riders. Especially those invilved in the jumps.

They sell body armour.

This I know as one of my brothers wears a set under his jackets.

It's not body armour...more like some kinda thermal thingie I think...

Try the Oxford range of products.

The silk under wear for bikers is really good.

I got a suit from extreme racing which is probably very similar: http://www.extremeracing.co.uk/

Works really well at stopping you from sweating like a pig. Arrived in less than a week.

Not hugely cooler but way more comfortable. Seems to regulate temp well as at night you don't get as cold.

I've seen 'Under Armour' and similar body contoured pants and shirts at all the big name sports stores - Stirling sports, Rebel etc..

I got some long pants for under my leather pants... makes it easier to slip out of:rolleyes: They work but compared to the Oxford gear they seem to make me sweat more. Not sure why but I'll probably still stick with them esp. over summer. For Winter, Oxford is better with the windproof layer.

As mentioned here for Summer I also use a short sleeve Merino thermal shirt. Not from The Warehouse but a Kathmandu one which seems to be quite comfortable and cool.

Hope this helps

It is distinctly possible that the guy I dealt with at Rebel was a refugee from the simian community...maybe I should try another shop...!

BTW where did you get your Oxford gear from?

You're not talking about compression gear are you? Reasonably fitting stuff?

No, not compression stuff - just cooling gear really...got plenty of thermals for winter...but the cow suit is damned hot in this weather...maybe I should wear nothing under it...errr, then again, maybe not...

You'll never get it off if you do that ;) Don't get your balls stuck in the zip either

Seriously, check out the Extreme Racing suits I mentioned above. They have a 1pc and a 2pc and are designed for summer riding under leathers.

And also check out the REV'IT! socks. They're great too.

i use under armour..... its from the USA and started out as a "compression" under layer for football players.... it is designed for keeping you cool or keeping you hot depending on the use and type of underarmour. You can buy it from stirling sports or Shoe science stores. There are other brands similar like skins etc available at rebel sports. I have used it for 2 seasons now.. summer and winter under my leathers....
it is tight to the skin for a few reasons.. it compresses your muscles (not that you notice it) to keep them ready for action, the theory behind it is so you keep them at operating temperature to assist in injury aviodance, the summer UA is designed to wick sweat and heat away from your body and regulate your temperature. I swear by the stuff, it not only stops me feeling the sweat while in the suit, it keeps me cool, something important in the summer. a added bonus is that as it is silky to the touch, your leathers just fall off, rather than the usual uncomfortable sticky and struggle without any base layer. They have a winter version also that keeps you warm which i have also used in my leathers. I swear by the stuff and its very non bulky, i forget i have it on.

a quick note on thermals in winter, i have been advised by a few sorces that even though thermals keep you warm, they are bad if you have a crash, due to the type of fibre in polypropelene type fabric, it acts kinda like carpet inside your suit so yo uget grazes and worse yet the fibres break and get into your cuts.. not a pleasant thought.. but that is just what i have been told.

I have crashed multiple times now in the under armour and not had any form of friction burn/graze from it.
just my 0.02c worth. PM me if yo uwant to know more about the Underarmour stuff :)

How come? I've got the 1pc and it's fine. Looks rather gay super hero until you get your leathers on tho haha.

That 1 pc does look cool.

There is stuff on trademe for $40, but not sure of the quality.

Which is why I use Merino thermals. The polyprop feels horrible anyway...

Thanks for the info. I will have a look.
