All you guys who live in CHCH are damn lucky to have such a decent shop to go to. Me and a visiting Pommy rooster had a fangdooly in the South Is. By chch both tyres on both bikes were shagged. Popped in to Budget m/c spares and well dang me had all the range of tyres available and put them on the scooters there and then. All at a decent price too.

Top blokes, top service, and a top shop. Almost worth a roadie back to chch to get new shit.

They have been good for me in the past although much more expensive compared to other places.

Recently I bought something electrical for my bike from them, they claiming it would work on my bike fine. Installed it as per their instructions, to the letter, and even ran it through a multimeter to check resistances etc as per the maintence manuals says. Multi read fine.

However first time I fired bike, it blew up.

Took part back, they won't refund the money. They claim they have no way to know if it was me who blew it or the part was faulty. They then said they will pass it onto the boss, with my name and number.

Never got a call from them.

Will be looking elsewhere from now on. That part was a lot of money down the drain.

I've had very varied experiences there.
Back when I first got my scooter I got my first gear from there, and once I moved up to my bike I completed the kit. While getting clothing from there I have had nothing but fantastic experiences, they were fantastic to deal with and I would recommend them to anyone on that front.
However.
I have also been there for a couple of mechanical things and have dealt with the guy with the crooked leg and all I can say is... WHAT A WANKER.
In contrast to making me vow to go back, he made wish I had never bothered. I don't have a lot of experience (in other words, none) with bikes, coming from a very non biking/mechanical family, and my only previous experience within a metre of two wheels being my scooter. Thus I was fairly uncomfortable when told to roll my new (new to me) baby backwards off of the pedestal it sat upon.
As he was watching me try and do it he eventually just yelled to another guy (a very nice guy too) to come and help as "he doesn't have a fucking clue".
No, you're dead right, I don't. But I have money. Money that you want. And if you want any more of it, you'll learn to respect the customer.

So I'd go there again for gear. But anything that guy has anything to do with, not a chance.

the gear is ok, but got a better deal at hampton honda.....

same with tyres thought they were all good but trevor pierce did a better deal for the same tyre..

budget spares are good if you want everything at the same time otherwise shop around.

Been in there a couple of time and the Hobble man think hes a bloody walking motorcycle dictionary. Knows everything about everything. But other wise the rest of the crew are pretty good.

I've got nothing but love for Budget. They've always treated me right, and helped me out heaps during my newbie stage.

He is a miserable fucker!

he's my favourite!, the first time i went in he was cranky as a cat since i made him change my tire just before closing but on subsequent times everyone in there has been very friendly... just very useless and very slow without much knowledge of customer service, and all still looking at the one ancient computer on the counter as if its going to jump up and bite their hand off when they go to use it.
But i wouldnt go anywhere else unless budget didnt have it. Coz Im Budget!!:2thumbsup
