View Full Version : Anyone want to help me get a Ducati 848 from Auckland to Taupo for 17 January?

jrandom

And back again, of course.

You can trailer it there and back in return for gas money if you already happen to be going, or get your jollies riding it down (and spending a day in sunny Taupo) if you're insurable on the owner's policy.

The owner (a colleague of mine) has just upgraded from a Hobag 250 and doesn't feel quite comfortable on the open road yet. Give him his due; he's doing his learning in the best possible environment.

So he's driving his car down to the trackday, but doesn't have a towbar or trailer.

The bike needs to be at Taupo track by 8:30am on Saturday 17 January, and back in Auckland by sometime on Sunday.

Any takers?

C'mon, it's an 848. Imagine riding something like that along Old Taupo Road. Ye gods.

If it wasn't for the massive come-down i'll be suffering on Saturday due to Big Day Out, i'd be in there.

You won't have to wait for long.

I live in Taumarunui.

I could come up and pick it up Friday. Ride it to Taumaruni, and bring it to the track Saturday morning.

Taumarununi Saturday night. Back to Auckland Sunday

As long as you're insurance covers me.

Mature, experienced rider.

We can probably do a car swap for the weekend if he's insurable on our policy (we have a towbar)

I'm doing RRRS on Sunday, or I'd be all over this.

Girls love a strong, decisive man, y'know.

But, if that doesn't work, I hear Ducatis pull them pretty well too.

Oh, and it's totally gay to pick an online handle that's just the name of your bike. Quick, come up with something better and change it. You don't want people thinking you're anything like YamahaR64Life, trust me.

Now all I need is a catchy nickname for my site name... My stepdad kindly called me "Crash" when I cracked a rib, injured a shoulder muscle and did and un intentional can-can over a stepup... All in separate occasions, all in 2 rides. And with my first ride on a bucket seeing me put "badges" on my new leathers it just may prove valuable to my road riding... **Just don't tell duke848, I'm going to ask if he'll let me take his bike for a lap or ten next track day**:innocent:
