Right, so kanny's mighty Volty is up for sale now. (I havn't listed here, or on TM, as I am a lazy buggar, and it should sell at the shop easy enough any way).

Kanny is really enjoying her Bandit600, but still will want to socialise with you hairy arsed ruffians for some strange reason. Which means tri boy will need to locate a suitable steed for her to continue light adventure rides, and one that I can use/abuse on rides that might be a bit much for her. ie 42traverse. Fishers etc.

The scrambler is staying in the fleet for ever, as it is way betterererer than anything you lot ride, and gives me a great reason to nanna along at the back.
"Too heavy, too pretty to bash up, too bloody heavy, not enough suspension travel, too freaking bloody heavy, poor bar/peg/seat position for standing up, way too freaking bloody heavy"

It will be my steed on the light rides, while kanny rides her adv bike.

Now, what will suit kanny?
She has tasted power via the 600, so smaller adv bikes are out.
Lecky start is a must for her, and the ability to lower it via linkages easily to suit her, but a quick swap back to full height when I want to flog it.
Built to take the knocks, and reliable as a Golden Retriever.

See where this is heading?
My god, I think I may have to consider buying............
a freaking DR650.

Please give me other options, as Crisis is gunna give me so much stick if he see's me ride up, wobble around on, crash to the ground on Japans most boringly sensible adv bike.

Help Me Please

It will receive suitable mods whatever it is. seat, suspension, etc.
Actually, if I sneak into Ducatijim's cow shed, and pinch his modded Dr, then I can save money better allocated to beer, and, err, beer.

Oh, and before you lot say, "get ya scrawny arse on a KTM690/Aprillia 550 etc. Remember, this is kanny's bike. Can't have the missus owning a beast that she can deny me the rights to ride. Plus, I'm a cheap prick, and the dollars won't stretch that far till this stoopid world economy stops beating up on my savings funds.

Wait till I see you on wednesday......:Pokey:

DR is obviously the only choice......well maybe, realistically anything 400cc to 700 cc, lighter weight and comfortable seat will do, so you may be better to keep an open mind and see what's for sale at a good price, XT, DR, KLR, etc.
Not too long ago there was a 01? BMW650 Dakar that went for 7k in Hastings, the guy just wanted rid of it, I can't understand why :innocent:

On second thoughts as it's for Kanny it'll have to be a KLR as thats the only one that comes in pink.

Have you considered these?
http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=197092647 - it's in your area. Take a test ride - you might be surprised.
OK I'm biased but they do have excellent power to weight ratio, low comfortable seat, good top speed (150km/hr std), easy to lift (even for a lady), long life motor etc.
Only downside is no aftermarket tanks & not the power of a 650. But you still have the Scrambler for the longer rides & heavy loads.

Drag Karen down this way and you can borrow my DT for the weekend to see if it suits - bring her down for the South Coast Adv ride - you could do the narly bits on it.

Hmmmmmmm
Hadn't thought of the DT.
Thanks for the input guys, and I might take you up on that kind offer mark.
My only doubt would be it's road riding distance for karen, and if I would have to add "trailer faggot" to the list of names you lot call me.

But it's in with a chance.:2thumbsup

Do you mean distance as in fuel range,or monkey butt range? I used to get 170km to reserve, with 2 litres left in the tank...you can go a lot of places on that range. It's as comfortable as any adventure bike,so no black marks there either.

I know for a fact that it could tuck in behind BigDave on the fat Scrambler and he didn't pull away from me on seal or gravel...although I was working the tits of it to stay with a bike 4 times it's size.It kept up with Colly on the Grand Canyon too....although he might have been picking his nose at the time.

DON"T think silly little two stroke trail bike with the DT230....I think they were the best adventure bike ever made.

There was one on TM down in New Plymouth for about 4k. Very tidy, registered etc. Thanks Motu, your advice is appreciated.
It certainly would be a great adv bike for karen, and being a trailer faggot like marks wouldn't be that bad, would it?

I could always look at aDR, second hand 640 etc for me later I guess.

Right, who wants a Volty for their missus?

Must admit, the DT's a good suggestion, it will get Kanny more able on the trickier sections (easier to control / less weight) and you'd have a blast on it.

Trailer faggot does have a certain ring to it.....
