Does anyone have a wiring Diagram for a Yamaha TT400 (or any similar Yamaha four stroke)? I just thought I would ask before I bother tracing out the entire loom. Thanks.

i have a xt500 diagram and a tt350 diagram,
if you want either or both ill upload for ya

failing that,
if you give me wire colours for certain things ill make you a diagram up,

is yours a road going model, eg indicators ect?? or just an off road, with brake and headlights??

It would be really great if you could upload both. Thanks! It's proving hard to find anything much for the TT400. I was planning to re-loom the bike (it's not a road going model) it has a few broken wires and other not-connected bits and pieces. I was planning to trace the whole thing out and see what actually goes where (I think some of the cabling may be for extra stuff like lights).

sweet as click on the images to enlarge them,
the tt350 has a very basic setup,
the xt500 is the full road going set up

and heres a ttr250 diagram

if you want me to do a diagram for a full road going setup let me know,
ill have to get a few colours from you from what you already have, but it shouldnt be too hard, quite easy compared to some of the fuel injected systems ive done thats for sure :D

Thanks for that, I really appreciate it. I will have to strip the bike down and make some comparisons. Hopefully I can do that this weekend. I sure that will lead to more questions! :-)

Well, I have found the time to take and look and I have diagramed what I found. You will have to excuse the quality of the diagram, it's not something I would normally do. Funnily enough, I have some questions for anyone that might know:

1) Does anyone know the pinouts for the CDI and for the engine?
2) What is the blue not connected wire that comes from the engine?
3) What is the brown not connected wire that comes from the voltage regulator?
4) The wires disappear into the left hand side of the engine. This is somewhat circular in shape (I guess the crank shaft is in there somewhere). In the centre of the circle is what looks like a very large plug with a straight cut slot. There is another smaller plug above this (also with a straight cut slot). What is behind these?
5) Are the white leads from the engine raw AC from a stator coil of some description? I measure (with a true RMS meter) a seemingly AC voltage that varies significantly based on engine speed (increasing voltage with increasing speed).
6) The output (red) of the regulator has a significant AC component. What is the regulator internally? Is it just a rectifier that relies on the (not installed) battery to soak up the ripple or is the disconnected brown lead designed to feed back into the engine (perhaps via the blue lead)?
7) Is this a magneto or an alternator?
8) Does anyone know how much (AC) current I would expect to be able to load the two white wires with?
9) That's probably enough for the moment.

I have a reasonable electronics background, so please feel free to be technical with your answers. Many thanks to anyone that takes the time to answer.

My previous diagram might not display all that well in your browser as it was a png with a transparent background. This one should be better.

well as i understand some yamahas dont do AC they have a generator and a voltage regulator and just do DC :calm:
