It's time to look at new rubber for the SV650, and I was wondering if anyone had used Road Attacks on their bike, and what they thought of them. Cheers.

Have a set of Sport Attacks on the VFR800, just :love: em! Feel good in the wet but let them warm up before trying to fight with gravity. Hubby has a sport on the front and a road on the back of his ZX10R. Has to be the best mileage out of a rear for him.

would go sport on the front if you go with the conti !
Did the sport road combo and felt ok, back slid now and then on slippery shit on places like paekok hill, But nothing too scary and was pushing it ! Didn't get a hell number of miles on it but then i never do !

I got great millage, good grip, and plenty of feedback out of the road attacks I had on my SV1000s, and as a result I am a huge Conti fan:2thumbsup

I'm another on the sport front & road rear combo. Happy with this mix and find them reasonable mileage wise.
Just did the CDMCTC track day last Sunday and they held up OK.

Had a set of roads on my zx10r bloody awsome tyres road and track warm up quick now on my second set on a gsxr1000k6 got 9,000km out of the first set and had four track days haven't tried sport attacks hear they wear quicker.

I have them on my hyobag (650) whether you like it or not lol- they're similar handling wise etc to the SV, same size rims I believe? either way they are awesome on my bike, I noticed the difference straight away- they are confidence inspiring, but if I could go back I would have put a sport on the front and a road on the rear (seems to be a common set up now) and I think if you go with Contis you should at least look into this. But other than that i'm pretty happy with them.

Im not on road attacks but have to say conti's in general are a top class tyre but like everyone is saying go for the road rear and sport front for the best balance between grip/life:niceone:

I ran sports on the on both the Thunderace and the FZ1 and never really felt at home on them.
ContiRace (road compound) on the other hand I thought were awesome! But they don't last long.
I have found so far Michelin Pilot Power 2ct's offer a reasonable mix of grip and wear, i'll be running a PP 2ct on the front and a Road 2 on the rear next.
The worst thing I have found about PP's on the rear is they are still too soft in the middle and tend to square off but it never seemed to upset the handling at all.

Thanks guys. I'll give the Conti's a try when the D220s come off. I've heard abot the Sport Attack front tyre option, but as most of my riding is commuting I'll probably stick with Road Attacks at both ends.

We've just fitted the combo of a Road attack front and Motion rear on #1's curvey (that's the carbed model for those wondering, not a part of my wife's anatomy!)

I chose to run a 70 profile front because I've always run them on my race bikes and that's what we were replacing. (I think the speedo is more accurate now too, funnily enough)

Coming from the Dunlop I'd say the Conti will feel slightly slower in the way it rolls in. Size for size the Conti's do run quite a 'tall' profile, which brings me to my next point.

Bump absorbtion, the Road Attack is by far the best tyre in terms of soaking up irregularities in the road surface I've had the pleaseure of using. I commute along Western Hutt road daily and anyone who's ridden that road will know what a horrible mess that's in at the moment. The difference between the Conti's and the tyre that it replaced (Pirelli Super Corsa) was night and day and I'm considering increasing the emulator preload back to where I'd had it (for track conditions).

Grip wise I couldn't really say that I need more than what a Road Attack offers, once I got my head around the difference in steering response I was more than confident to push to the edge of the tyre without any reservations. Another thing I've noticed is that the bike holds it's line really well whilst trail braking, nonw of the feeling of wanting to stand up if you apply the front brake when leaned over.

It's a bit too early to see how the mileage will work out on our 'do everthing' bike. I went for the Conti motion on the rear because of the amount of straightline running this bike does, there's no point having a soft tyre when we use 10% of the tyre 80% of the time. Being a harder wearing tyre than the Road Attack hopefully that descision will by vindicated with the test of miles to come.

To sum up I thouroughly recommend Road Attacks, a great product and very suitable for SV650's.

BT-016 might just be the tyre for you then. Rear has three compounds compared to the PP2ct's two so the middle should be harder.

I've got 5000km on mine and they look like they'll last another 3-5000 depending on how hard I ride. Wearing pretty evenly given I commute 200km every week on the motorway.

Interesting and good to know, been thinking about 016's, have you run Pilot Power's at all, if so can you tell us what the difference in handling is like, i'm interested in running PP's coz I trust them and I think the drop in style might help the 14 with initial turn in blah blah blah....

They might a little slower to turn in but you could fix that by dropping the front down a little in the trees.

Got them on my Zx14. Great mileage compared to BT14s it came with.
No problems with grip or traction. Will be replacing with same. Sean.

Discussed Conti's with the dude at Boyds last week...he said Conti recommend the road/sport combo themselves.....
Also looked at PR2's...cheaper than Contis but not by much...

been running a road attck rear / sport front on the TL instead of my usual Michelin PR2 combo. Glad to get the POS off the back. front is fine but rear has not lasted and not in the same league grip wise as the PR2. 3500kms and its shagged , 7500 / 5000 out of last PR2's.
