If this Jaknlow or Jackoff or what ever his name is was an on duty cop or an ambulance driver (cant remember the term for them) or even a fireman then and ONLY then should he be able to claim that he was "acting within the scope of his federal employment''. Anybody else when coming home from work would get manslaghter right off with no appeal. Bloody politicians, crooks at work even more so when they are not trying to fuck you over with taxes or some new law or gods know what else. Just plain bullshit.

Not sure about the other services, but if an Ambo screws it up, thats it Jack, yer on yer own, your choice and all that, you have to prove what you did was safe, hard to do if you run a stop sign.

Ok didn't know that but still a polititian? Only reason isn't being permenently stuck with manslaughter is becouse he is famous and probably rich. Have to agree with Aerosmith and I think Redstar's signiture, "Eat the rich, only damn thing they're really good for,"

'going to rewrite the series of events in which killed the motorcyclist'
what more can you rewrite from running a stop sign into the path of a motorcyclist. i hope this wanker gets what he deserves

That fuck deserves every day of prison time. It's a pity that even if he does end up in prison, the regular prison routine probably won't involve him too much, I mean, with looking like he does I doubt the other prisoners will take much of a liking to him, then again, they only need to see the back of his head...

This arsehole should be securerly tied down onto a main road and every biker, that wants to may ride over him (on whatever bike they wish and at what spped they want). First gear on a PE500, with a rather large knobbly sounds good. Just to hit powerband as the back tyre hits his body :angry2:

The ultimate responsibility rests with the driver. Nothing changes simply because there are flashing lights and noisy sirens on emergency services vehicles, the driver still has to ensure the way is clear before running a stop sign.

Recently, a federal judge ruled that since Janklow was on duty when he ran the stop sign, taxpayers and not Janklow himself would pick up the tab for any civil damages in a pending wrongful-death lawsuit.

U.S. Magistrate Arthur Boylan agreed with U.S. Attorney Tom Heffelfinger that Janklow was "acting within the scope of his federal employment'' on August 16, 2003, when he collided with Scott's motorcycle. Janklow was on his way home from a public appearance when the crash occurred.

Some strange things happen in the USA but this is quite unbelievable.

That's why I was glad to leave and will never go back. To easy for the privaleged to get the type of "justice" they want and the rest of us get the shaft.

It's a bit rich really isn't it... "he was on duty"...

He's a Congressman... he's ALWAYS on duty!

What about the guys from the US Postal service that "went Postal" and gunned down all their workmates? The Postal service clearly needs to go to prison!

What a load of BS... from the US.
