OK so just got a new RVF 400 upgrading from a cbr 250. Quite amazed at the performance difference and managed to take it for a blast from Aucks to Coromandel (SH25 past Matarangi) at one hell of a blistering pace the other weekend. Got around of few corners scraping the toe pegs, then scraped the stand which kinda scared me a bit and maybe the muffler too but I'm not 100% on the muffler.

Is this normal or what? Riding too hard? Is there like an after market stand I can get that isn't in the way so much? Also it doesn't look like the tyre on the very side of the crown is wearing out too much (last 0.3cm).

Haven't had much experience on bigger bikes, is this the same or are newer sports bikes built so you can corner harder?

Thoughts?? chur chur :niceone:

Just keep grinding it - after a while you'll have ground it down enough that it won't touch at all any more, which is what a friend did on his VFR.

Of course, it's not ideal to be touching the stand down really, because unlike the pegs which fold up on contact with the ground, the stand is fixed to the frame and could potentially turn bad. I know my old Bandit had this problem with the stand when cranked over to the left.

The extra 150cc makes a fair bit of difference then I take it? :wari:

Check your suspension preload (misnomer that - it actually adjusts the ride height).
The bike may have been owned by some short legged miscreant whose arse is too close to the ground and so has wound the preloads back.

Cool thanks, yeah the extra 150 makes a huge difference. Such an amazing bike to ride. Can anyone with an rvf or vfr comment on the ride height??

The suspension will give you the most ride clearance if you're smoothly accelerating through corners too.. maybe you are already but if not, that's something you should be doing.
