Scorpio issue

This morning I was setting off for my usual commute to the city and every time my bike was at 2K revs or lower it would stall.

I thought to myself, Ok, I didn't let it warm up enough. Once I get to the city it would surely be warmed up enough. Got to Nelson Street lights, slowed, changed down gear, braked....stalled.

Same thing happened to every set of lights or roundabout I hit even when I wasn't at a complete stop. No issues starting again though.

After work thought, :shit: I don't filter (too wimpy) so slowing down is going to have the same issue. However, this didn't happen at all on the way home. Mind you I did have the bike warming up for a good 5 - 10 minutes before setting off.

Anyone have any ideas why this may have occurred? I have booked myself in for a service on Friday and will discuss it with the guys there but it's bugging me as to why this was happening.

Dirty fuel. Water in the fuel (Does it live indoors? )

Try half a cup of meths in a tankful of fuel

I've had a similar problem myself. What were your idle revs when it was Ok going home?

There is a small screw next to the where the throttle cable goes into the engine (your manual will explain it better) that can be used to adjust your idle speed if necessary (it can be a bit temperemental). Make sure the engine is fully warmed up when you make your adjustments. The manual reckons the idle speed should be ablut 1750 rpm, however, when I've tried to get it down that low, it sounds like it's about to pack up completely. If it runs at more then 2000 rpm, it should be fine.

If it is only a problem on a cold engine, just leaving the choke out slightly worked for me on one occasion. As a rule, I usuall start the bike and leave it running for about 5(ish) mins while I put on helmet & gloves, close house, etc, before closing the choke and setting off. That usually works but sometimes needs a quick rev when coming down suddenly from motorway revs to idling.

Could be sticking choke - flooding the engine at low revs?

Or it's the bike trying to tell you to filter......

you did turn the choke off diddn't ya--Jorjas one once warmed up wouldn't idle with the choke on

Hmmm not sure how that will help with your bike problem, but if you think thats what is needed then go for it.:eek:

Seriuosly all the above advice is good,start with the choke(make sure out when cold and in once warmed up) and adjust idle up if required.
