Hey guys and gals,

over the last year or so ive had a bad front end wobble under brakes. I use the SBS dual carbon pads which are very good, but i am worried that they are putting too much heat into the discs and i warping them. Im onto my 3rd set within one year.

The problem is more noticeable as i start tippin in under brakes such as tipping into turn 1 at manny or the hair pin, i get a front wobble so have to release the brakes.

on high speed braking points ie end of taupo main straight - theres a good amount of vibration too.

Any only real racers ( zxr racers ) have the same prob or 2nd hand discs that are straight?? hopefully will get my times down a bit.....

What model, H or L? I have some L discs I can sell you if you want them. My bike is an H. I'm having a few issues myself. Getting hot also and a bit of brake fade, no vibration though.

I have had a similar problem on my thou. Found a definate warp in the carrier not the disc! This will cause nasty vibes in the front end. Check the carriers AND the discs for runout with a dial gauge. If any runout is measured (pretty small toloerances) replace the set of disks and carriers.
On my ZXR400 I use these http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Parts-for-sale/Brakes/auction-197564054.htm and apart from having to warm 'em up in the first lap, no fade and good bite. Minimal wear on the discs too!

Yep sounds like warped discs. I crashed once, bike tumbled a little and unbeknown to me the front disc took a slight knock. Felt fine and wasn't until I had been through 3 sets of pads that I though something might be up. Replaced disc and all good.

Cheapest place for zxr400 parts is ebay.co.uk but the nz dollar isn't too good at the moment. I landed a pair of 2nd hand front discs for under NZ$100.

hey thanks Sharky - mine is also a H model - how diff is the L models?? didnt think they were diff??

The fade problems i also have had - rebuild the master cylinder new kit is around $60. huge diff. as soon as they fade the fliud is toast so replace it.

if they will fit would love to try them!!

cheers for the help.

Yep, H is 300mm diameter and L is 310mm. What class are you racing in? I also have some mint wavey ones that I'm not using as they're not legal for Pre '89 but they are sweet for F3.
