Start is reserve, (I want it gone so I am not debt funding my new bike).

Great bike, this will be a good deal for someone.....

crikey! 20 watchers. No bids though but the start equals reserve auction sorts the men out from the boys:

Nice bike! I've thought long and hard about making a bid but I think it's a big too big of a leap from my old 250 Magna to your Hornet....! :eek5: :baby:

Good luck with the sale.

I say go for it Jerms, it is a bit of an enigma of a bike, great, linear and predictable power for new riders but still a bucketful of fun for the experienced, not to mention it's handling inspires great confidence!

If you have your full licence, you're welcome to take it for a spin.

Dude I went from a Virago 250 to the Hornet .. its a good step up.

The Hornet maybe 900cc and 115bhp .. but its an excellent middle class bike to learn *proper* riding on.

I bought mine new, and I was cautious too, the salesman kept saying "it is all in the wrist" ... meaning, just don't go hamfisting the throttle until you're ready to.

Fully recommended bike, and I suspect anyone who has owned one will say similar things (HDC, Trudes, Kendog, Skelstar, et al)

Indeed. Ive bought a Triumph Scrambler for something a bit different, and something a bit better on the shingle roads I want to do some riding on.

TA is 100% right. The Hornet is a good step and as with most bikes, a little respect with the right hand goes a long way.

Trudes went from a GN250 to the Hornet no problems a few years ago, still has it now. The only reason I sold my Hornet is I found a bike that put a bigger smile on my dial (but I had ridden a dozen plus other bikes that had not motivated me to leave the Hornet)

Have to agree the 900 Hornet is a great bike and a good step up from a 250. But 115bhp? Not a chance. (in standard tune anyway)

fair enough comment about bhp :innocent:
wikipedia states 109ps (LINKY (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CB900F))

I thought 108 at the crank in stock form.

I have seen a magazine article modded one (PC3, airbox, less restrictive exhaust, cams, head flowed etc etc which was getting up to 140 at the rear wheel. (It also had Ohlins R & T forks, Ohlins shock, Marchesini wheels, BIG ASS Brembos (TM) etc etc. And painted with flames. yeee haw! I will see if I can find a link.

While the paper may state that, I have another bike which has 115, and feels a whole lot more powerful.

The hornet has very smooth power delivery and doesn't rev up quickly. It makes it a torquey friendly bike to ride.

Sorry to see that the bike didn't sell on Trademe...if you are still interested in selling could I arrange to come have a look and a ride this coming weekend...?

Cheers.

Absolutely. I am going to offer it to the 63 (!) gawkers as well then re-list it.

I think people thought it was too cheap ergo there was something wrong with it. Plus being honest about dropping it maybe didnt help. Curse of the "too-honest" trader.

Having said that, I deal with people the way I'd like to be dealt with.

Also, IMO the spiel about swapping shocks and forks and binning at a trackday makes it sound like it's been ridden HARD :devil2: The only thing really putting me off is the fact you are CHCH otherwise I would have been round in a jiffy to check it out!

It has been ridden hard, occasionally. But mostly its been ridden by a sedate, respectable MAWG* on the road. Ah well. I should have just lied like most other people on tardme. The only other evidence of any hard riding is the lack of hero blobs on the footpegs, and that only because the pegs are so low, and the tyres so good!

Ah well. Crushing debt is good for the soul.

No, don't do that...if I like it, I still want a bargain...:shifty:

I definitely appreciate the honesty...so many trademe dealers are all too quick to pull a swifty. I was impressed with your list of bad points especially the stone chips...I mean if someone is happy enuff to point out minor issues, surely they'd point out the major ones...wouldn't they!?

If I'd seen the offer a bit earlier I would have got my a into g, organised a ride and would probably have snaffled it up this time. Just me being too cautious and not wanting to buy without a test ride...

Just buy it. They are extra spiffy in black too! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Honda list 108hp in the brochure in stock trim - free flowing pipes will gain a few extra as the stockers are very restrictive (read bloody quiet).

I noticed a flat black Scrambler outside Pit Lane today - complete with matching sidechair! looked a nice kit and very retro.

My Scrambler is that colour. They want $14500 for that whole rig. I didnt win powerball and only have paid for less than half my Scrambler so far but when I do win it big, I'm having that as well :)
