Fark I wish I could go to this. But with the XR200 and the DR350 still out of action I don't relish riding through it on my sons XR100. Cheese and MXHeman, you don't know how fortunate you are, you got bikes in working order and you don't ride 'em!!! It's criminal!

Hey oldfart ...sell them both and buy one that goes..simple
i'll start the bid with... $5 for the XR..... and $7 plus a crunchie bar for the DR..but now if you were to advertise that world famous cat poo brush well that alone must be worth the price of a new 450 its priceless...lol.lol

haha very funny lazyracer. Hopefully the XR will be faster, stronger, better than it was before... no wait up thats the bionical man, well anyway back on track by early March. And the DR, well I dunno about that yet. But I don't wanna 450, I'd be happy enough with a little 125 ring dinger to throw around.

Between when you picked up that 50 and now I just haven't been able to find the time to sort it. I got a new plug for it and got it started (with a lot of CRC sprayed down the airbox) , it takes a '94 model plug not a '93 which I thought it was. Lots of bangs backfires and hissy fits and it wouldn't rev out, just sorta a rough fast idle. Ran like that for a while, mechanically the motor sounded alright then a bit of a clang and then lots of continuous loud rattles from the head. Don't know whether it's the camchain or a valve making the noise. I figure it needs that looking at and a carby reco before I can ride it. Yeah so that's where that stands at ze moment. I don't have a manual or the know how on this engine to look at it flying solo. Little John said he'd have a look at it after he's fixed me XR lol fngers crossed it isn't too major

:2thumbsup I looked at that but theres a bit of mud on the rear tyre, enuff tah take off 5 hundy. Then the chain looks a bit tight on it so all the work that needs to go into loosening that off a bit should take off another 100! Then if theres a slow payment scheme that doesn't dent my weekly booze allowance too much...well... I'd be in!!

What did you want help with?
-Umm... Can a nub come too? suitable for learner dirt rider? Were you asking for help with that question? Maybe you should PM billaroo - or get in touch with WMCC, cos it looked to me like you were asking permission to attend rather than asking for help. We are obviously friendly here - most of us are running our own business' which depends a lot on being friendly believe me.I hope this doesn't deter you from asking/posting questions on here - most of the members have a wealth of knowledge about riding and repairing/maintainence issues. And we welcome new members - the more of us there are -the more the chance of getting the answer we were looking for.
Best of Luck.

We got half way round on the first loop and then my bike fouled its first ever plug (from following dad) in the farthest possible place form the carpark :blank:
And as an unbiased view, cheese was there, and going on the fact that he told me about the track I can only assume that he was riding too!!
Nice to meet you cheese, no real names ?
Hopefully I can talk dad into going back to riverhead, unlikely
I really liked it tho, really hard and technical, suits my riding
So whens the next possible kb meet?

Was a good technical ride, that club certainly likes its over grown single track but it's not really suitable for the masses.

i would recommend that if you haven't ridden out there you go some time soon while its still dry, because once it gets damp it will be a nightmare for most.

Damn, sounded you guys had fun. I ended up at the Meremere drags. I havn't been to the 4 & Rotary nationals for about 8 years now. It appears they've finally sorted out parking and traffic controls and as a result it was pretty sweet.

Sweltering heat though. I wish I had brought some sort of tent with me. Not as much fun as riding though. =)

V monster truck was pretty wicked, as was the Rayglass Supra (?) doing a 6.95sec pass :Police:

It was very hot yesterday and some of the track was very tight, so you could easily foul a plug if your jetting was a bit rich in the first place.

since iv owned the bike, bought it in may, i had never fouled a single plug and the one that did foul was the plug that was in it when i got it

but guess what i learnt on sunday :sweatdrop

is it true that plugs only last about 8 rides? one of the guys who stopped to help me said that they only last about that long and that i should get the jetting done

I will probably just run less oil in the mixture, its 2.5% atm, or run a hotter plug, i never have the bike tapped for long, or change the jetting but triple x moto recommend a larger main then whats in it now
fuk i dunno

I wouldn't reccomend that !!
A new plug every 15 to twenty hours is a good practise, Either get a workshop rejet your bike or if you want to give it a shot drop the needle one slot and that should allow more air in and make the mixture leaner(check your plug after every setting change to ensure you havent gone too lean). Reducing the oil content is not a very good idea nor is running a hotter plug(unless its within the reccomended range).
Crazy dave had the same problem and a simple rejet has made a world of difference. He is probably the one who stopped and gave you a hand(he was on a kx250).
The trails were tight and puttering along on a two stroke will usually cause your plugs to foul. Vazza has similar issues which we are trying to solve as we dont want it happening at the GNCC next month.
Please dont take my word for gospel as tuning carbs is a skill very few of us possess and a lot of it is by trial.
hope this helps!!

wouldn't recommend what?
the guy on the kx250 said he got his bike rejetted and it doesn't foul plugs anymore, but the guy who he recommended couldn't be much further away if he tried, kumeu is a long way away from my place

yea the new plug thing i will have a look at, and maybe the jetting thing, my bike has a lot of oily splooge coming out the muffler and I think the 1/2 to full throttle is wrong because it didn't splooge up at the ride at riverhead , cuz it was so tight i couldn't open her up for long, but at thunder it does cuz im really fast around there and on the throttle lots so again I think the jetting is out, but then mr cheese said that thats just two stroke nature to do that when I met him at riverhead

Nah leave the oil as it is.

I'd recommend talking to Linton at Dirt Action Services 03 3890080. He sorted a good base to start from, as he knows gassers inside and out, and also the places you would go riding. Not all bikes come jetted well out of the box. Also Linton can supply LTR jtting kits for the bikes for around $50, where as tripplex quoted me over $150.

Also Reckless on here is vey knowledgable and has a lot of experience with experimentation.

I have been searching on the overseas forums, gasgasrider, thumpertalk, etc but have yet to find any info from anyone who has done rejetting for a bike the sam as mine, and I didnt know that LTR made a jetting kit for a 07 ec125
but ill give him a call, he keeps coming up as the gasgas guru of sorts

Can anyone recommend how to remove the needle holding bolt inside the slide, mine is a 6mm bolt, but its stripped, not from me, and I cant get it out to see what the needle and clip settings are :blank:

I have been searching on the overseas forums, gasgasrider, thumpertalk, etc but have yet to find any info from anyone who has done rejetting for a bike the sam as mine, and I didnt know that LTR made a jetting kit for a 07 ec125
but ill give him a call, he keeps coming up as the gasgas guru of sorts

Can anyone recommend how to remove the needle holding bolt inside the slide, mine is a 6mm bolt, but its stripped, not from me, and I cant get it out to see what the needle and clip settings are :blank:

Yeah give him a call, he keeps all my details on file (jetting, exhuast, gearing etc) So that when I ring for a part he can give me the best for my bike and type of riding. The bonus of this he can lok at other peoples file to see what worked for them. Plus his prices inc frieght are far cheaper than I ever found round here. good luck

Crikey I just put a new plug in when I put a new piston in.

Same - actually, the plug I have in now is on the second piston(which has given me around 120 hrs service).
I mix my oil at 32-1 and never have I had to clean the plug. The plug i have in there is a NGK B9ES and the bike is a kdx250. But on that note I think I will replace it for a new one to be on the safe side lol.

I've only read the last page or so Noobi but if there's oil and shit dripping out the pipe its too rich somewhere for sure. It probably fouled on the Riverhead ride cause you never had the chance to let it have a blast. This alone doesn't prove its rich in a certain area though ( low or high) as you may have been in the main just long enough to still foul the plug if its rich there?

Plugs:I had my first plug clap out on me over xmas other than that have never had to replace one that often. Easily done over 100 hours on most of them. But with a 2 smoker it never hurts to have one in the pack back spare in case you tip it on its lid and flood it really bad, or one simply gives up on you.

You do need to strip the carb down and see what its settings are now!

Nah leave the oil as it is.
I'd recommend talking to Linton at Dirt Action Services 03 3890080. He sorted a good base to start from, as he knows gassers inside and out, and also the places you would go riding. Not all bikes come jetted well out of the box.

Rupes correct and I'd call linton his local knowledge could save alot of pain, sufferng and testing.

Don't worry about what they may or may not do in the USA mate, different sea level, humidity, atmoshere etc etc doesn't apply here!

Its very hard to tune over the internet but it could be something as simple as a pilot jet change and this is often where the problems are. I dont have a magic answer for your needle holding bolt hopefully its the bolt stripped not the slide. The stripped bolt also indicates someone has had quite a fiddle with it.

So my 2c would be to, see whats in it, give Linton a call see what he recommends, then you have to make a judgement call on what you want to do. Tuning a 125 correctly can make quite a difference. You really need to be able to read a used or new plug to go from there. There is a few threads on here about that, do a search. Just remember generally you can't blow a 2smoker up by going rich but you can by going lean. So if your going to make some guesses go richer first if it doesn't go right then start to lean it with the new settings. Do your research first. It would't hurt to move the c clip up the needle one notch dropping the needle down to lean it a bit but do the research, know what settings it has now, read the plug as in indicator and then decide OK.
Good Luck!
