View Full Version : Expensive Portrait - Still waiting for my Happy New Year

I'm beginning to think I'm bloody jinxed, however the following really is my own fault this time.
Thought it was time to open my mail this year. I particularly hate those envelopes that have my full name on it.
Firstly I had a really shit weekend, finding out Ahu's mongrel sister had ransacked his place. To top that off - a friend had left me his car for the weekend - I am not used to having a cage - and I haven't been well so I slept alot - 2 fkn parking tickets at $40 each. I was at the stage where I could understand how people could get physically violent lol. It was safer for me to stay indoors - but expensive.
Today I unsuspectingly opened an envelope to find I had a speeding ticket on the bike - brain had to go into overtime and think was it me riding???? Unfortunately I can't blame anyone else dammit. $120. Bloody expensive portrait and it's not like I need or want another one.
I looked to see how I go about getting this "portrait" but be buggered if I can find info on it - cos it says if you ring the 0800 number - the operators could not assist with photograph queries. Please don't tell me they charge extra for the photo lol.
That will teach me for showing off saying I hadn't had a speeding ticket in over a year and a friend piped up and said you only rode 2 months of that year. Lol.
So I'm still waiting for the fkn Happy New Year. WINZ also cut my benefit too cos they can't read obviously. Had to wait a week before I could get an appointment - which is tomorrow. C'est la vie.

an experienced motorcyclist will always ensure that his/her rego plate is bolted securely to the toolbox before a spirited ride

My weeks never get much worse than that thank goodness.
Now for the dumb question, I have been out of the country for a while...You got a speeding ticket, on your bike, are the cameras now photoghraphing the rear of the bike?....gulp

Cameras always used to face the oncoming vehical so if there was any argument as to who was driving, a photo would show the driver. A photo of the rear of a vehical could not identify the driver???
With the case above if there is no photo of the driver, could the bike owner say "I had some mates around all testing out the bike, we don't know who it was?

Go for it ... Cameras no longer gace the oncoming vehicle all the time ... so if you wish to test case law then go for it I say ..cos that will make it easier on the rest of us who know when we fuck up we will just pay the fine and be done with it. The case above is that she can choose to get the picture.

If the vehicle is registered in your name, and you cannot prove it was not you, then you are liable.

For $120 I would not bother challanging it, especially if NZ is not attaching demerit points to speed camera infringments....or do they?

You dont lose any demerit points from getting done of a speed camera. Hey Shirl maybe you need to buy yourself a Lotto ticket, you never know your luck may turn around for you and you could win the Big 1, well here's hoping anyway.

I won't be contesting it as I remember thinking god knows what the speed limit is - I thought it was still 70kph but obviously not - and yes I was riding on that day. Oh well I'll post photo when I get it. I sure as hell don't remember seeing a stationery vehicle or a cop with the camera.
Will have to see if I can pay it off - ya can't get blood out of a stone. One good thing about being poor - you have absolutely nothing to hide lol.
The last 3 days have been more enjoyable.
