Nothing wrong with "Barkbusters" .:niceone:

Still have my original levers, grips and handlebars after 3 years, 37,000km
and quite a few "majors" !

Got some of the BIG ones on the DR (see profile pic). Bit more protection from wind/branches/gorse/big ass bumble bees than the lower profile jobs, Had a few "tip overs"and havn't had to replace anything

Hubby's DRZ400 had the Acerbis handguards/barkbusters - full plastic type (not like Jatz's). Can't say they have always saved levers as the plastic does flex and sometimes break, but did get seven years out of them so lasted well.

Replaced with Zeta handguards taken off my last bike.

They are pretty substantial aluminium brackets (choice of 5 colours), with plastic guards that screw on (come in two diff sizes, choice of 7 colours - the bigger guards look better, ours are the smaller ones as in the pic).

Brackets (RRP $99.95) and plastic guards (RRP $27.95 or $33.90 for the larger size) are sold separately.

Moose ones are my recommendation. Decent alloy bars that have withstood a fair number of drops in the last two years (now on second bike). Best bit is that the shields are a soft silicon plastic so they flex and get out of the way then impacting on things. Get the large shields which are a really good size. Superior Motorcycles in Chch import and sell them - not sure who else does??? Seems superior's page isnt working at the moment - www.motox1.co.nz Moose web site with pics here (http://www.mooseracing.com/catalog.jsp?level1=1756&level2=1782&level3=1784&level4=1801&category_id=1801).

I've got the zeta guards, and I'm really pleased with them. Although they are the only guards I've owned, so I can't really make comparisons

I use Acerbis and have found them to be excellent.

The Acerbis plastic Rally series ones are next to useless. The moulded plastic end key is simply not strong enough to stop them turning on the bars and exposing the levers... I broke lots of levers using these guards.

Genuine BarkBusters (http://www.barkbusters.net/) are the biz, but expensive. Have saved my 200 from some fairly big hits eg falling off a bank nearly upside down onto hard ground. Likely any of the alloy bar ones will work well.

The model I user is the Multiplo E. Found them to be very good. But your right, that plastic tabs on the front pop out every now and then - it's no safety issue though, so that's OK!

I meant the non-alloy bar ones. The handlebar end mount system is simply not up to the task... which is definitely not ok. :oi-grr:

Joe - I'm with those who favour the genuine barkbusters. The set I have worked well on my DR350 and now do service on my DR650. cheers S
