It said there were reports the incident began when a man tried to steal a handbag. He was then said to have got into a car and driven off.
Bad choice.

The motorway is flowing freely in both directions at the moment.
Edit: Can hear sirens though.

Between where and where ? Did you travel down there or have you got a "room with a view" ?

It appears as though traffic out of D'Auckland will be affected.
I guess the area will be shut down for "investigative purposes" for the night...

Not the case according to Prime News.
Apparently it was an innocent motorist that was shot. Probably the driver of the car the guy was trying to hijack.

Not sure what the current state is, but yep, its a mess alright. At the strand, they closed the entire onramp for western and northern traffic. This meant everyone got shoved on the southern, and got off at gillies (and I got back on again, to try for the shore). They should have kept the northern at strand open, allowing people to head north, then jump across, say, at upper harbour highway... meh
then factor in holiday traffic... result: Have a motorbike :ride:

Was the victim shot by the AOS? :(

Judging by the body language on the Police Talking Head, it's looking a bit shakey for the AOS.
God help the coppers if that's the case. The media will take them apart.

Lets remember - at this point they dont know who fired the shot. But even IF if did come from a AOS member - the root cause of the death is with the fuck running around with the sworn-off 22 who was shooting at police (from the last report in the Herald)
The AOS guys were trying to saves lives and it would be a tragedy if it was one of their bullets that killed the innocent bystander.
My thoughts are with the AOS guys, as well as the family of the guy who was killed. I hope the bastard that caused all this rots in hell. Its so sad to hear that he didn't die.

Was it the offender dead? Guess not because they said he is in custody, so it must have been a member of the public shot. I was hoping that asshole that tryed to snatch the purse and steal the truck got shot!
