Fists of Iron?

During the slow bits in the last coupla days, I have stood outside my shop and watched for bikers and scooterers coming past to see what gear they wear...ATGATT? Ha! I looked for helmet, jacket, gloves, trousers and boots. Results as percentages (of first 20 observed) are thus:

Helmet 100%
Jacket 70%
Gloves 50% (hence "Fists of Iron")
Trousers 10% ("balls of steel"?)
Boots 25%


Definitions:

Helmet - obvious
Jacket - leather or bike fabric (cordura etc) - not denim or other dress fabric
Gloves - bike gloves
Trousers - as for jacket. Not denim and NOT SHORTS!! (saw lots of those)
Boots - leather with ankle protection

Not always easy to judge fabrics of jackets and trou but dead obvious if short sleeved shirts or shorts.....

Not meant to be a definitive survey but certainly indicates a lack of committment to ATGATT...

Can you break it down to bikes vs scooters?

You'll always see me riding in all the above bar trousers. I take my chances with jeans (usually kevlar lined) when commuting in summer.

Helmet 100%
Jacket 79%
Gloves 57%
Trou 14%
Boots 36%


SCOOTERS

Helmet 100%
Jacket 33%
Gloves 33%
Trou 0% (most in shorts...)
Boots 0% (usually sneakers or jandals...)

Yes James I have heard of them...so you might wanna retain a level of doubt re trou...like I said, not meant to be definitive...but the shorts were pretty obvious...and so were the jeans with holes in 'em...
