View Full Version : Can I borrow some tools? (Christchurch)

I'm trying to adjust the chain however it seems the nut hasn't been moved for last 20 years. And since my tools are in Metric measurements, I can't do anything.

An impact drill to remove the "chain guard" would be helpful too...

I am also tryin to replace the Spark Plug Cable (if that's what it's called) however to do that I need to remove the gas tank. And to remove the gas tank I need to remove the seat. And to remove the seat, I again needs to take out some nuts that seems haven't been moved for last 20 years... (It's almost rounded now...)

Help would be appreciated. Compensation gladly paid.

Thanks in advance!

EJK

P.S. Don't you Christchurch riders do anymore maintenance evenings?

Very very serious love... The spark plug "plug" that links to the cable is dangling. So as long as I don't hit a speed bump roughly, the bike will still go.

Thank you. PM Sent :)

And thanks to JAS-110 for helping me sorting out the problems :) After all it was all simple problems! And it's amazing how you live only a block away from my place! I guess that's Christchurch :)

Well well, life has many twists and turns - I knew the Force would step in and see a correction to it!

Take pics and plenty of them EJ ... and remember the effort that goes into creating a road worthy ride should not be dismembered by doing stunts! :msn-wink:

We shan't be surprised then if we get another thread saying you need to find parts to repair it then :slap:

I'd be very surprised if a Yamaha from the 1980s used anything but metric fasteners? What's the issue?

It WAS the metrics actually. The size spanner 12 was actually fucked (I mean fucked) and wasn't getting the grip. Well before being compared to the actual size 12, I thought that was the right one (which wasn't)

:shifty: Some days we all do wonder about the things you do say though ... be like me, say as you do and do as you say! :msn-wink:

Probably an imperial equivalent. I had a set of imperial spanners than had metric labels, terrible, didn't fit anything.

O hey this bike ain't designed for fun so I will leave my fun bit upon a shelf for now.

Today I rode it, the furthest distance ever (Total of 14kms). Maaaan so beautiful. I showed it to some friends of mine and they said it actually looked cool.

You know, I've begun to like this classic looks.

Another question guys. How do I remove a light scratch?

No I didn't drop it. If you see the photo closely on the other thread theres a slight scratch on the tank that I would like to remove. It's a metalic surface (chrome ish)
