Yeah was done in ChCh in Jan and stopped some where (asking for directions)and he must have been driving past and noticed our bikes so dropped off a few posters. Sounded quite interesting.

I don't think they would let you use an R1 engine in the pushrod class.

Not unless they've changed their plans it was to be N/A and they were going for about 180HP

I didn't realise we were racing or I might have tried harder,as every one knows there's nothing much in this world that can beat a 1982 XJ550.

Any way, today they did the first dyno session on the motor they will be using for the record attempt, 2003 GSXR1000 150hp at the rear wheel, now they'll start on the mods and see what they can come up with

If I'm correct, the current record is something like 150mph or so isn't it?

I was watching tv on the sidcar thing. Personally I think it should be a requirement to use a passanger as well, otherwise its just a modified trike or bike really. I mean, isnt the purpose of the sidecar to carry a passenger ?

The option is there to use a passenger if you want, but I don't think anyone does as 60kg ballast is proberly lighter than most passengers and it's safer to risk only one life at a time, modified trike? I don't think so,not even close in fact.

Set by Bob Burns at 162mph down Tram road in 1955

the criteria for record attempts changed after that record was set so that particular record can not be broken, the current record under the new rules is about 227km so the reality is it will be a peice of cake to beat,Phil has set his sights somewhat higher at 320kmh

Or Slight to carry a pillion..

Well the only brand I haven't won a trophy with is Honda, have won the odd race on them though, although if you turn up at the track often enough I think they just end up giving you one anyway

Saw some footage of the plug for the bodywork today, they've finished the wind tunnel testing and will have the body constructed in the next 2-3 weeks

Construction of the chassis has also started and Phil has gone on unpaid leave as they're starting to lag behind and they need to pull the finger out as they're meant to be doing it in 4 months

Had a sit in it today, bloody uncomfortable it was to,but it's starting to come together

Bunch of Yoshie parts going into the motor over the next few days to bump up the HP a bit and then it'll be back on the dyno

62 days to go until the run and this is what he'll be riding! :niceone:

there should be some footage on TV3 news tonight of the test runs which were done today at Wigram

They didn't break it and nothing fell of, they did about 10-12 runs between Phil and Glen, they only ran it up to just over 200kmh in 4th and without the body work on it but came away fairly happy with the result

Should have a few pics in a day or two
