Sitting at the lights on Bealy Ave in my car(cage too american for me),dude pulls up next to me on a CG125,Arai helmet,Dainese leathers and boots, hmmm I'm thinking, his R1/GSXR/CBR/ZZR must be in the workshop,so I pipe up and ask "dude,ya other bike off the road?"..."nah"he says,"this is my first one"...so as he heads off I'm thinking wheres his fucking knee sliders!;)

Is shorts and T shirt more appropriate for a CG125

I'm sure you can hit a speed to do more than enough damage on a CG125.
Good to see he's wearing all the gear, and reliable brands too.

Good on him for investing in good gear early on. No point in having to buy flashier gear when he eventually upgrades to a bigger bike.

cage, he he I use to call them tin tops years ago.. is that where the cage thingie came from that yanks!
Good to see he actually had some fine safety gear, lucky little shit!
Question though... did it look like it fitted him correctly? The reason I ask is some stupid bike shop in chch is selling stuff to newbees and it's way to loose and baggy on them!
I would have thought the shops would understand the value of correct fitting gear.

Good on him, even with gear on I have lost more skin than I like to think about.
The CG goes fast enough to get pulled out infront of, T boned, hit diesel etc etc. It shits me how little gear people wear because they are on a scooter. It doesnt matter if im on my fireblade or my wifes jog. Jacket, pants, gloves, boots and helmet.

Yep i lost skin through cogura(sp) from less than 70kph, i have driven (and ridden) the crash scean many times and i did not slide that far, nore hit the ground that hard.

I wore commuter cordura on my VTR250 until I got T boned. Then it was leather all the way baby. I like having skin too much and cordura just doesn't protect you.

ATGATT, as the saying goes. He has done well to get gear to protect himself. Leather suits last a long time, and so do helmets.

Ha ha. I bet he is one of those people who you see on the mountain with all the expensive 'label' gears, expensive brand new skis/board, season pass, and they are on the learners slope.
Yes good on him for being safety conscious, and good on him for having more cash available than lots of people.
And good on Trademe for letting us buy his quality second hand stuff in a few months when it gets cold and he's 'over it'.
Win win situation all around.

Jandels are for the week. Yesterday in Albany I saw a Squid riding a R1 in bare feet.

As if the CG isn't cool enough. Lemme tell ya, my CG is the coolest bike IN DA WHIRL !!
Right, men in white suits just pulled up outside, must off out the back door and over the fence......................:crazy::crazy:

In relation to the OP.
On my way back from Helensville, and some chicky babe on a scooter with jeans and a tank top takes both hands off the handles and does this horrendously OTT wave at me ha ha, as if she'd just downed a couple litres of caffeine. Fuck it was funny!
Almost fell off trying to laugh and perve at the same time. Goddamn single threaded brain processor.

I always found it hilarious to be in full leathers - on the shop's loaner scooter. Sitting there looking like ghostrider and laughing my arse off doing all of 45 km/h at WOT.
Too bad there's no way you could get your knee down on that thing - you lean it over even the slightest and the centerstand starts scraping :(

The best is when you drop your bike off at the shop and take the bus to work in full gear, plus carrying your helmet.
It didn't occur to me until afterwards that I could have left my gear at the shop with the bike. May have saved me a few odd looks on the bus and a comment from the driver "where's the bike?" but oh well :)

Leather suits last a long time, and so do helmets.
Apparently helmets are a bit like tyres. The foam goes off over time and your sweat and hair products affect it too.
Can't remember how long it was but apparently helmets should be replaced after something like 2-5 years.

They will not let a 5 year old helmet on the track, says something.

After all the many tedious posts about people not wearing ATGATT we now have a post complaining because somebody was wearing a full set of good quality gear?
I need to have a lie down and think about this...
