Is the track together then? Good if it is.
Is there any chance of Gary using the bloody crash bailes?
Or getting rid of the drifters?
Is so, I'm in!

Track sessions starts at 1000hrs... im going to try be there at 0930...
Spectators entry fee.... nothing, its free
Cost to take bike/cage (ofcourse cage is irrelivant) $80
Sessions are about 20 minutes long (plenty of time to get you sweating etc) and if you do 4+ sessions you will be fucked as will your tyres (depending on how you ride)...
Parking: There is the pits, the area around the pits or the car park on the opposite side of the pits....
Session order is usually: Race Cars, enthusists, Drifters and Asians (im not being racist thats honestly the order) then bikes
Sessions finish up at 1600hrs
Ofcourse if its raining im not going.... although this time i might (even though i crashed last time) as i need some practice in the wet...

Probably be drifters there :( and i dont think gary will put out crash bails (he likes watching the drifters bend their cars hehehe)
And yep the track will be together as it will be after the Nationals round....

Yep, officially open for business as usual from the end of this month/start of next month. The first two controlled testing days are, unfortunately, 'race cars only' and 'cars only' days respectively.
I'll try and do this one, will definately be at the first Friday one. Weekdays are sooo much quieter. If this first Saturday is looking as busy as the last one from last year, I might give it a miss - One only has to say the words "five abreast going into the hairpin" and we look at our shoes and shake our heads...

hey would anyone be interested in a weekday track session at Taupo.
I know all the weekend sessions are booked but weekddays might not be too bad.

Yes. I think you tried to organise one before? As long as it's not too expensive - you need enough people to make it no more than $100 each. Preferably less than $60 though.

I'll be keen on the 26th March. Be good to get back on Puke again. There won't be any bails as these belong to AMCC and are only put out for bike meets. Also can't use them with cars as they get destroyed.
Does anyone know what changes have been made at puke i.e. which sections have been resealed and the quality of work??

I'm in for this too as long as I'm available - got a hectic schedule for the next two months. Taupo is dirt cheap to hire so you'd only need 11 people at $50 to cover. Charge an extra $10 and put on a BBQ too!!

Cher
Speaking of hiring Taupo we (me and a few reputable KB members ) are planning a date in March/April for around 20 or so people. Will post date and $$. Same Idea- a few KB's- a pickup with a bbq on the back. Will be mid week though- only time the track is available. :niceone:

Wouldn't it make more sense for them to make it:
Bikes, Race Cars, Enthusiasts, Drifters and Asians? Safer for the bikes, and it's unlikely the bikes would wreck the track for the race cars.

Umm...
That is the order. It's a cycle so the bikes would still be after the drifters. A better order would be Race Cars, Bikes, Drifters and Asians, Enthusiasts.

MR and TS, you still planning on welly sometime march??? Anyhow you can pretty much count me in for puke, my new race modified TL1000S needs some aerodynamic testing to determine the correct gearing to run, as it's unsafe on the road to do so, an i dont speed on the road :yeah: (honest)
And Taupo, DM pretty much said it, f%^&*n aye, mid week is the best time for me, consider me in for sure.

Well if somebody wants to organise something at Taupo mid-week, and given enough notice,I'm hell keen!
We can possibly sort sometihng out with carpooling etc...
Hey, I've got a bbq!
The other option is... what about we get a group of people to volunteer to put the bailes out for the bikes, then bring them in again for the cars?
A lot of work, but with 10-20 people, it wouldnt take long at all.
If we all too two bas each, we could do it in the warmdown lap....
Just an idea

Not to sound negative but that's a big job. I've been involved with putting out the bales/bringing them in before and it takes a good 30 mins + flat bed truck. All the bales have to be tied together too so people can't slip between them.
Firstly you'd need AMCC permission to use their bales and then you'd need Pukekohe people to agree to let you hold up the track while everyone else waits which I honestly can't see happening on a track day.
You'd be better off doing this on a bike only day.

Bails sound too hard - but for what we get charged for test days there should be at least a couple of marshalls supplied to wave a yellow flag and get more prompt, safe, recovery of people in trouble. After my last nightmare at a Pukekohe test day (trying to help stricken rider where bails go while having spinning CBR1000s rear wheels only 2 metres away) I'm not inclined to stop for anyone in trouble........which is not a good thing. If we don't stop for our fallen riders at those test days it'll be 20 minutes before they get any help from Gary, or St John. Could be dead by then.

Yea maytee I agree --I can't justify that amount of money for maybee 3 track sessions.
and that after the drifters have covered parts of the track in mud and debris.
Shit do we need a bike only track day soon.

I think it's a cars only or racers only day. March 26th is the first 'general admission' controlled testing day.
