Literally just got in the door after my return journey from the Coromandel this morning.
Had two great days there afer my first go on the open road and was hanging out to get back on the bike and coast home to Auckland.
Got on the road just after 8.00am with clear blue skies above and a deserted road ahead. Cruised over the range and made it to Kopu where I spotted a lovely looking group of bikers waiting to hit the road themselves. Flicked them a big wave and carried on to Pipiroa where I stopped off for the best $10 brekkie I have had in a long while (bacon, eggs tomato, hash brown and toast....oh yeah and some grated carrot....) washed down with 2 cups of rosy lee, then it was back on the road.
Through Miranda / Kaiaua finally hitting Kawakawa bay which was bustling with boats and families bedding down for a great day out on the sun. I did have a minor blip when some idiot in a Ford V8 ute decided to overtake me just outside Kawakawa and cut straight in front of me slamming on his anchors forcing me to hit the brakes. He then sped off beeping the horn and waving the international sign of The Wanker out of his window. Still, thats his problem I suppose, didnt bother me cos I was quite happy.
So, poodled into Clevedon, then Whitford and now home with a happy heart and a hunger for more.
Once again, all friendly bikers on the road, waving and nodding....I mean, who wouldnt be happy out on the road in this weather.
Happy as larry my lovelies, am a new man after the last 72 hours and just had to share it with ya. If anyone was on the road and saw a fat git on a VL with a fecking huge cheesey smile plastered on his boat race, I can just about guarantee that was meeself....fanx for the waves.....
All the best......
