but really, would you? Despite the bad stuff, NZ is still more appealing for settling in than a lot of other countries.

Most countries you cannot walk down the main streets by yourself at night without something bad happening - or being close to someone else that has.

NZ? Safe. Walk down main streets by yourself, no problem.

Just don't hold a KFC bucket while you do it - you may get mugged.

New Zealand cities are among the most violent places in the world.

My Question is: for such a small population what the fuck are we doing to eachother...???
:oi-grr:

My question for you is where do you get such bollocks information.

The most respected and largest quality of life surveys in the world place Several NZ cities in the top cities in the world:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10115381

Auckland 8th - Wellington 14th - and Crime / personal safty is a major part of the rankings.

Go for a walk down a street in Hati, the Congo, Zimbabwe, Somalia, or Iraq (please - I double dare you) and come back then telling us how dangerous NZ is.

I think they chose a wrong word for the article.

Lets quote some other fantastic bits from the piece of shit website you link to:

New Zealand is financially bankrupt. Do not be surprised if its currency turns out to be worthless, soon. New Zealand is a morally bankrupt, apartheid country (little wonder most of the scum who fled South Africa after the apartheid regime was dismantled there have now settled in New Zealand -ditto the supremacist scums from other countries). New Zealand continues to dehumanize the indigenous Maori (non-white) population as well as the ‘colored’ immigrant communities systematically: Marginalize them, strip them of property, kill them.

The pakeha “elite” must pack their bags, take their land thieves, banks, politicians, judges, military, police, prison guards and pollution, and go back to their own countries.

Flying to or Importing Food From New Zealand? You are committing a double act of eco-terrorism!

The best thing “colored” international students who were inadvertently lured to New Zealand could do would be to cut loss and leave the country. You may just be saving your life!

[Is] New Zealand Violence Related to Biochemical Weapons?
The article’s sub-headline read: No other nation [with
the possible exception of Israel] is so pathologically violent!

Do you really think that this is a fair, balanced and credible source to be quoting.

A university of life degree in common sense coupled with a hidden agenda is more likely - otherwise there would have had to be some sort of references supporting those outrageous claims.

Sadly yes. Luckily, those bad things doesn't happen nearly as often in NZ compared to many other developed countries.

I dont think that there are any figures in that site that are even close to accurate. Its all slander and bullshit.

Worse crimes by ethnicity - sadly you only have to read the news to see many countries commit atrocities against people. Take your pick.

Anyone believing anything that site says is a complete retard. Quoting it as fact and using it as an argument on why NZ is crap is even worse.

It's not a matter of hurt feelings, it's a matter of C+Ping a load of bollocks from a website which takes a bunch of news stories and bad data and turns them into a shrieking, paranoid bunch of nonsense about how NZ is the 15th most dangerous country in the world.

Well I'm amazed - New Zealand is one of the few remaining countries in the world where EVERY murder makes the national News. In the UK and Europe and the states most murders never make it into a local rag let alone national news.

That's why it SEEMS worse here.

Thank you for proving my point, McJim. As journalists put it these days, when there is a conflict between gore and context, gore always wins because small minded people crave it. They do not want to bother themselves with the question what really happens, or why. They got their primitive version of worldview from the idiot box and they make a stand from the safety of their armchairs because it makes them feel good about themselves. Yes, they say 1300 casualties on one side (although independent sources say this claim is exaggerated) and 13 on another. Have you ever thought about finding out why there is such a disbalance? Has any "newssource" asked or answered the same question? Must be a wholesale slaughter, why else? Gee, I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that residents of southern Israel have spent a good part of last several years in bomb shelters, and that Hamas government has built none for their subjects before provoking its neighbor with indiscriminate bombardment of civilian population. I wonder if it could possibly have something to do with civilian structures rigged for secondary explosions and then used for launching missiles, knowing full well that the launch site is likely to be attacked? Now who is small minded now? The dehumanization is going on, alright, but it is taking places on the pages of Independent and reprinted in NZ Herald, and you seem to be absorbing it at the alarming rate.
P.S. Over the years I found that when people are switching "e" and "a" in the word Israel it seems to be a pretty good indication of an agenda. Thanks again.

Yeah, pretty much. There are Palestinian Doctors working there with no incentive like say selling newspapers or enticing viewers who are stating that the estimates are well overinflated.

Of course, an even bigger figment of the media's imagination would be that they don't deserve to get pounded for firing rockets indiscriminately at civillians in Israel. But I digress...
