Last weekend was a shocker. 4 bikes!!!
You wonder why??

Start Point: Porirua Train Station.
You meet in the scummiest of places,

riding up through until Paraparaumu McD's.
You plan the most mind-numbingly boring ride possible in the greater Wellington area,

Turning back around 1:30pm back along the coastYou then risk comatose by riding back the way you came.

Gixxer-King will be on a bike yay! Finally
Hopefully this time "The King" will actually turn up on a bike to the ride he himself organised.

All hail the gixxer-king :whocares: How did KB ever survive without him?

It's just a plan, we can always change it on the day. Hopefully I'll be there, I haven't done any group riding before, so a bit dull is just fine for semi-noobs.

Dont forget the MC sprints are on in carterton on sunday !!! Now there's a good ride ! The keen riders could stop for a look, then continue on up to masterton, loop through the pahiatua track and home down the coast and over the paekok hill !
Bout a four hour ride on some of the best roads in the lower north island !
Have to agree with the whale rider ! The sea views are great, but not when ya have a cheesecutter only a few feet away from ya legs ! Mc D's does not digest ! The gladstone hotel (A 15 min ride from the sprints) do the best lunch menue ever !!!!

The ride over the hill and round the backroads, especially through Gladstone, is one of the best rides we've done so far.

christ guys,
I say its a fun ride that people can organise on the day, people complain so I give a vague idea of where we may go (its not in stone just a rough guide of which side of the country we will be on) people complain, so people have the following options

a: dont read threads started by me, I really don't care.
b: organise their own rides
c: piss off altogether

If you really can't make any friends on your own (which I find stunning personally given how well you respect others) don't come crashing our parade.

I have wound this club up once before and it would be a shame for morons to get on my case again.
If you don't like the ride don't come, its really simple enough a trained monkey could work it out.
Once everyone is confident to go on longer more exciting rides then it shall be done, people who actually showed up to the first ride know that there are some in our group still finding their feet on their bikes and don't want to go over the takas yet.

Hey Gixxer

I will be in for this ride, as long as no one comes over from cannons creek and steals my bike while I wait at train station :P

Gixxer just ignore the ones who moan, they aren’t going to turn up anyway and if they do they only have the balls to be a prick on the forum.

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday hopefully your bikes going by then.

Cheers

ok now I'm starting to get annoyed.

Why did you mention that in this thread? In all the places to post that, why here?

We have riders that don't want to go over the Taka's!!! So please don't make those suggestions.

And why god why do I have people pm me and email me and post in the 250 thread that ride astonishingly large bikes?
Is it some sort of I'm bigger than you thing?
I myself don't even take my large bike out. This weekend it will be a sports 250 next weekend it will be a cruiser 250 so that people get the idea that a 250 has a number of uses and is fast enough.

Cheers dude, I needed that, it's been a hard day.
I'm working with companies and people to really help people who are learning to ride or wanting to learn to ride, its nice to see support every now and then.

And yep I'll be on a nice shiney racey red comet this weekend.

Next ride I'll make a welly meeting point, a hutt meeting point and a further north meeting point i think, save the moaning at least on one side.

GK, just a suggestion but wouldnt you get a better turn-out if it was posted in the Meeting/Events Forum?? Obviously you are targeting 250s :niceone: so you can list it as a 250 ride like we had in Auck 2 weeks ago. A 26 bike turnout!! Ok we had a few big bikes but at least half were 250s.

I see the :Police: tab is getting bigger

Well my guys usually know to look here, I dont want a huge crowd (16-20 bikes is my upper limit) so im good, saves getting too many knobs on the rides, im not a friking babysitter I only want to help people genuinely interested in starting out.

As for the tab well....... Last ticket was unfair (incorrect indication) god damn they'll get ya for anything nowadays

good call mate, sounds reasonable and if you have guys that know where to look then sweet as.

Incorrect Indication?? What a pedantic officer they were! Must have been having one of those days where they couldnt find anyone doing anything wrong and decide to nitt-pick in order to fulfill their quota - stink!

awesome. not when your indicating left down a straight peice of road, I may have driven 100m at most. and i had left a roundabout, now unless some banana is planning to overtake me coz im doing 50kph but my left blinker is on I dont see how, Now I know its a pain following a car with no blinker or a wrong one on but give me another few seconds I would have turned it off. And I seriously think an officers time would be better spent elsewhere, catching theives, shutting down P labs etc.

Nah bro, They need to fill quota's on traffic offences first, before they can go after the Thieves and P labs etc :Police:

Tell me about it. I wouldn't have a problem if they got off their arse and chased the real crime as well, but I have had 3 cars stolen, a set of mags stolen and in each case I was the one who had to find the buggers, with the wheels I even gave them an address of where they ended up but was told they didnt have the resources to follow it up.
Poor Form NZ Police!!!

So no I don't enjoy the tickets I get for that reason alone.
As much as this next statement will be accused of being unfair and make me look like a knob I am hoping that just one officer sees it and may think twice about giving young people shit, here it is.

"I Gixxer Luke Chad King will NEVER stop or go out of my way to help an officer in trouble. Should that situation be a flat tire, needing directions or something more serious I will only stand on and watch."

And if I am asked why I didn't help I will respond I didn't have the resources.

I can sympatise with that. Slightly off topic but I had an almost similar incident. Had my car stolen. Reported it and went looking for it myself as well. Found it parked up a drive in Naenae, the scumbags were home as the front door was open (unless they were doing that place over as well). Rang the cops to see if they could come over and retrieve the car. Only to be told that there was no squad car available and could I get it myself. WTF??
Anyway, I went back to the house to get my car back. Probably one of the most exciting things I have done, could feel my heart beating in my throath, snuck up the drive, slipped into my car and prayed it would start first time. Would have loved to seen the looks on the guys faces to see the car they had just stolen being driven off.

Back on topic:
I'll be there tomorrow and yes, g-k, come around in the morning and we'll ride over together, say around 10am?

Does that mean no off duty cops are welcome on the Sunday rde?
Or are they welcome but if they get into trouble theyre on their own?

Mate by all means. I know plenty of cops, great mates with 2 of them, still wouldn't go out of my way to help their peers. They themselves let me know enough of what goes on and it's sick.
They follow orders from a higher being, when on a ride with the Wellington club 250 I am now that higher being! If there is a situation for whatever reason that calls for (say an off duty officer) to break the law and I say to do it (within reason of course, use uncommon sense here) then it needs to be done. IE we have all learner/restricted riders out in the never nevers of New Zealand, someone comes off and their bike is smashed, they seem ook but are having trouble breathing, if I tell you to take that person on your bike and follow to the nearest hospital you need to do it! I obviously would try take them myself and I would only ever ask someone to do that, that I knew could handle a pillion and that their bike is up to it also.
I would never go out of my way to make a cops life harder but don't expect me to be a good citizen if the people employed to be such won't

Back to business - How was the ride? :D

4th February 2009, 17:12
It was a good one.
Only three of us, Gixxer, Roki and myself. (edit: 3 bikes, 4 people, Gixxer and his wife, Roki and myself)
Met at the designated place, blowing a thousand bastards, very close to rain or drizzle at least. The outlook to the north where the ride was meant to head wasn't looking very promising. So the decision was made to head over to the Wairarapa. The wind on the hill wasn't an issue at all. Once on the plains out of Featherston the breeze coming up from the road was that warm it felt like jumping into a warm bath at times. Absolutely beautiful. Ended up at the Horseshoe Tavern (I think that's what it is called) by the big round-about at the north end of Masterton. Had lunch and some refreshments and headed back home.
The last couple of kays heading back into Featherston were diabolical due to the extreme wind which had come up. At one stage there my little Scorpio was full throttle in 4th gear with the speedo dropping rapidly back down to 80km/hr due to the head winds. Dust was being wipped up from the surrounding paddocks and I could taste it in my mouth.
Once on the hill though, it was all fine. Nowhere near as bad as anticipated.
Ended up doing about 240km all up.

It was a really good ride. The wind was a bitch at the start and the end of the ride. Other than that everything was good, mabey next time we could go over the takas and take some of the back roads

I think so. Turn-out was appalling. A big factor might have been the weather. The first ride, it was very windy. The second ride I don't know, I wasn't able to attend. The third ride it was again very windy and looked like raining (until we got to the Wairarapa)
However, that doesn't have to stop anyone from putting their hand up and organising a ride, including myself.
The key is finding an interesting destination and having a bit of luck with the weather to get more that just 2 or 3 hardy fools turning up.
I don't mind the wind (adds interest) but understand that not everyone shares that same feeling.

Ohariu valley through to Makara and Karori, then back tio Johnsonville is only about 40 kms, but quite technical / taxing if people want a short ride.

Sounds like a goer. Ive never been past Porirua/Titahi Bay so dont know the place but would be keen to make the trip down to tag along with more knowledgable (of the area) riders.
