My wee fella (12) has shown a keen interest in shooting, and (I'm proud to say) has some talent as well (but all fathers say that right).

So I thought I would get him to a gun club as opposed to just my makes farm where he can get into the sport a bit more.

I looked at Central Shooters in the City (Auckland) but thats a pain in the ass for us.

Can anyone recommend a place near the Shore - I know there is one out KKK - but cannot find out where.

there is a range in birkenhead open day is on thursdays at 7pm, .22 only tho

theres a good one in howick.

There is a club in Dome Valley, The Navy club in Devonport. Pistol club in Waiuku, Black powder club in the Hunua's. There is a rifle club in Howick

If you check out he firearms thread there will be a range starting in Sth Auckland in the near future.

Apart from that I dont think there is a lot more choice

Pretty sure there's a range (not sure about associated club?) next to riverhead forest, on the left had side heading north just after the carpark for the mountainbike tracks (not long after you get into the 100km/h area)

Old north rd, between browns rd and pinetone rd.

.22 mainly at this point. He has used a shotgun a few times and is slowly getting the hang of it - but prefers the 'kick' of the .22

Yea, Birkenhead is the nearest for you and your boy I think.

It's at the rugby field, underneath the 'grand' stand. Like $7.50 for range fee (not including rifle rent and ammo, but I'm assuming you have all that).

So he really needs a rifle club. A "gun club" is often a shotgun club...like what I belong to....I dunno diddley squat about rifle clubs, sorry.....

The Navy club in Devonport.
Unfortunately not.
NavyPC hasn't shot in Devonport since HMNZS Tamaki was closed down.

Deerstalkers Assn have a range out that way
The Deerstalkers range is on Riverhed-Coatesville road, east of Riverhead.
