Last Sat had me summer school exam(uni) and thought I'd unwind with a nice 'short' ride after doing a little bike tun-up. Rode up to Kaukapakapa but instead of heading to Helensville as I usually do on a 'short' ride, I couldn't help but head north towards Wellsford. It was around 6pm and totally beaut of a day! I just couldn't stop riding!!!

I hadn't been that way for quite awhile and it was breathtaking with the late afternoon sun, I was really enjoying the ride and cruisin' at the LEGAL speed! Anyways, I turn oof towards Warkworth to make it back home b4 dark (had me tinted visor on) and came accross some lovely twisties and even though I wasn't really into tearing into them that day, it's hard to resist when there's not much traffic in either direction!

There was a patch of road without seal for abt 3 ks which was frustrating but after that was some real cool tight twisties again, this time slower, tighter corners which was fun to throw me ride from side to side!! :niceone:

Anyways, just wondering if anyone else has been up that way recently?
What's the ride up to Wellsford like?

ps sorry this is looooong.... just had to share with some like minded folks! :2thumbsup

I'd say you were on Woodcocks road - only a few more kms of gravel to seal and I won't ride it anymore, but sports bikes will claim it for their own.

Old North Road (Turn right near Kumeu heading North on SH16) is the one for me... so much fun and great visibility along some of the windies.

And of course if you get bored with that you go for a skeet shoot at the gun club (only $25 for gun rental, range fees, ammo, targets... the LOT!).

Awesome fun, stop in at the bar there for a brewski or two then back onto the bike and zoom off again!

Aaa that's the life!

Hey it's Wednesday (Skeet shooting practice night tonight)... hmmm
