OK, bit of a pointless drivel thread, but I'm still fuming that wifey just destroyed my freshly cleaned and oiled airfilter by throwing a shovel load of dirt over it. It was drying in the sun beside the garden...
Small thing, only forty bucks down the drain I s'pose, but I'm sure there are others out there with much worse experiences. This is the thread for 'em.

Learning the hard way that waterproof liners in winter gloves are held in with barely there glue. A good pair of winter gloves useless three days after purchase. Im much more careful now as it gets counted under user fault and therefore not a warranty job.

...you decide to start with the hardest job, the front sprocket, when replacing the chain & sprockets.
Coolant hose cover off, engine/sidestand mount bolt off, sidestand off, clutch slave cylinder off, clutch pushrod out, drain engine oil, sprocket cover off, flatten lock washer, break free 132Nm sprocket nut with the biggest mutha socket handle you've got, old sprocket off, clean up sprocket cover gasket surfaces, new sprocket on, nut on to 132Nm, bend lock washer.
Take a break, move to rear of bike. Remove rear wheel, remove bastard locktited sprocket nuts & bolts, old rear sprocket off. Discover you've been sent the wrong fscking rear sprocket!!! :2guns:
Old rear sprocket back on, wheel back in, reverse process with front sprocket to re-install old one with a new $25 gasket. Will have to use the old stuff for another 2-3 weeks until the correct sprocket arrives.
NOT a happy camper!!

hand in hand with that, replacing the chain first before undoing the front sprocket so you having nothing to lock against when undoing the nut.
also finding out after 1000km that the monkey who did the oil change at the shop failed to notice the inner o-ring came out with the old filter and he hadn't put one back in at all...
Oh, and also riding your new DRZ off road and not knowing enough about them to realise the reason it keeps cutting out is because of the side stand switch.

Ok heres one .... happened just 2 days ago.
After finally finding and fixing the charging problem with my baby (stater absolutely munted) I was eagerly awaiting the chance to give her a good old fashion test run with the headlight going. Yay!! Im over the moon with this. I have been without the use of the headlight for a while now. My excitement was mounting!
Mr 13 was helping his father with the maintance and learning as he was going.
This is a good thing! He was totally enjoying it and found the inner contents of the clutch case intriguing.
The fork oil needed to be changed to a heavier grade, a ok until Mr 13 was asked to gently push a block under front end of bike.
There is a difference between pushing it in gently and raming the block underneath. Bike tipped over and met the ground, lovely scratch on tank, bent foot peg, munted front brake and smashed mirror!
All easily fixed with 2nd hand parts until new parts are purchased, but thats not the point, as now delayed my test run :( as the front brake leaver is an awkward heavy old bitch.
If its not one thing, theres most definately another to delay the process!
Murphys law was well in progress

Having your brother reverse into your bike & make it unridable. Literally days after your longtime girl calls it quits.
