While I've got my bike in bits again, I was going to give y frame a quick polish up. I recall there was some good product that you could get fro REPCO that was good to polish Aluminum?

there is an acid based product for alloy car wheels that will save a heap of time and effort. ask at repco or others.
do a small trial first on a hidden part of the frame.
once done a coat of good old car wax will help prevent it losing its shine.

Gregs got my forks. Going to grease my steering head bearings too and thought I'd give the frame a polish.

theres another out there called Peek that works a treat, i got it from a mate who's a metal polisher ! He recons he's tapped into the truckies market now as they love it for polishing up the ali wheels ! www.tri-peek.com is the web addy, might have suppliers in auckland listed on there !
Think i paid 20 buck for a 100g tube which goes for miles !

we use autosolv at work on chrome bumpers, stainless mouldings, and all alloy parts, also a rubbing compound called G3 is pretty good, painters use it to buff cars.

If your just looking to return frame to standard look as apposed to actually polishing it I always just used a Scotch-Brite pad (you know, the green stuff) with the last of the soapy water.
Returns the frame to look like new.

Yeah I'll hit it with a buffing wheel on the dremel.

To maintain the shine you clean it with mothers mag and wheel cleaner then put a wax over it and it will last for years

just be very careful with any mag and wheel cleaner as some of them are caustic or acid based..im not saying they wont work ,but just be careful and read the labels
The older alloy mag wheel cleaners would be the ones to use they clean aluminium really well but you gotta be careful it doesnt touch anything else

Wow no way would I go to that much effort on something I'm going to cover in mud. Just wanted to shine it up a bit.
On a side note, how about bringing the shine back to my expansion chamber? its gone a bit rusty in spots.
