ahhh that was you with the crisp sounding ktm and the van. Yeah the mx track is horrible had a couple of nana runs round it and though nah. The Enduro loop was good. Saw you go down the loop as was going to give chase but was trying to cool down a bit first. Come and say hi next time.

Hey barty according to Michelins web site the MH3 isn't very good in sand (or mud for that matter). Would a Michelin ENDURO COMPETITION III REAR be a better all rounder?? Its seems to rate better for what we do generally, like Thunder/kimmis then Sandpit all in the same fortnight.

Personally I quite like Pirelli. The Pirelli Scorpian MX Extra all ground. They seem to grip well and last well. Although their web site recommends the Scorpian pro (in the enduro section not MX) for the rear of my bike which is whats on the front of it now and has a very similar tread pattern to the S12 (good grip too). So it might make sense to put the Scorpian pro on the back instead of the MX extras I like. Depending on how they last the Scorpian pro range seem just the tyre (data sheet attached).
My new bike has an S12 on the rear and its pretty much on the way out now only done 13 hours! Good grip but wrong time of the year if you wanted it to last!
We might find we are better moving to enduro tyres because we ride roots/sand then hard pack (or mud in the winter) all in the same week sometimes. Seeing as how the manufacturers are starting to produce specialist enduro ones now we might be beter to go there rather than MX based tyres??
What do ya think?

ive done a good 6-8 hour up at sand pit with the mh3 no probs so has cheese even more hours on them as i did have the ms3 before whichwas sweet in the sand and mud. you have to remember you need a tyre that work in both conditions unless you want to change tyres ever week the mh3 and ms3 wear very ell did at least 25plus hr onthe ms3 and it stiil got a got edge on its rear. rupes s12 at kimmies yesterday shat its self torn to bits in four laps.

Yeh my s12 on the rear is looking pretty sad now but have to make it last a few more rides. A soft tyre does give you best grip in the hard but of coarse wont last. The factory guys prob wouldn't use anything else but they put new ones on 3 times a day!
Don't wanna turn this into another tyre thread but I knew you'd say that about the MH3, and I'm not questioning you either.
But I think I'll explore the enduro tyre side of things. I like what they are saying about the durability but still have good grip in all conditions! My 03 has a scorpion on the back with an S12 on the front and seems really good! So if Pirelli have now manufactured an "enduro" set with similar characteristics that might just be the ticket!!
Cheers mate!

you can't get a MH3 for a 18 inch wheel. The S12s are good, but there wasa bad batch of them out there that chewed up really quickly. Boooom got a good 18 for his CRF-X/R.

Haha thanks Cheese that settles the MH3 question for me then!
Anyway I think Ill go for the Scorpian pro to match my front and see how that goes might be a slight improvment on what I'm running now depending on price of coarse! Othewise I'm going to stick with the Extra!

Yep bridgestone 402, great tyre as recommened by you and scott411. lastting really well on the gasser and hooks up in the sand sweet, and had no probs getting up the hills at maramura while the rain was pouring.

try one rick great all-rounder if you can't afford winter and summer tyres.

Not sure what I'll put on the new bike yet, maybe a bridgstone

iv just ordered a 402 also, the 202 didnt last long at all, in saying that im using up a couple of old tyres at the mo, not wasting new tyres in these conditions!
