Trying them on .... is the only way to know. I'm faced with buying new boots as well, and have been thinking about my options now that I've bought a cruiser ... You just have to try stuff on, eh, to see what fits you, in spite of any reputation any of the gear has with other riders ...... Good luck with your decision!!

Get the ones that velcro at the back, they are really really good.
For 2 reasons they work, and are easy to get on.

Go for the one that has GoreTex. No GoreTex, no waterproof.

I'm inclined to agree, though there a few (emphasis on the few) proprietary brand waterproof membrane products that do work. Largely it seems you get what you pay for when it comes to waterproof products (or ones purporting to be so).

If your only choice is between Diadora or Teknic, personally I'd go for Diadora every time. Italians know how to design/make boots, period - even if sometimes they farm out the actual manufacturing to other countries these days.
