View Full Version : Quarantine doesn't make sense

It really doesn't. My dog is currently held up in Stockholm Airport because of incompetent bureaucrats from both countries. Poor lad.

Now firstly, both NZ and Sweden are alike in that they have both been stupefied by socialism but lets just put that aside for a moment. Sweden is not as anal about importing pets as NZ is just as long as you fill out 687 pages of irrelevant shit about your dog. What I don't understand (and this covers both countries) is why put a domestic pet through so much bullshit when you allow people from say Africa to walk straight in with AIDS, STD's and just about every other disease known to mankind?

It just doesn't make sense.

so are you going there, coming back - or just decided to give the dog a holiday?

What I want to know is why on that ASKO appliances commercial - the one that purports they are so good because 'look how similar Sweden is to NZ' - but the landscapes they show to illustrate look entirely different.

Huh?

White man's guilt. Same as why we let people in to sit on the dole in KFC. But only if they're NOT white.

It was his call. After 5 years of living a repressed life in the land of the long white overcoat, he decided to pack his tennis ball and migrate to a country where he could be free to roam as a dog without the fear of being ostracized. The verbal and sometimes physical abuse and outright racism he suffered in NZ really got to him. No dogs on the bus. No dogs on the beach. No dogs in the park. No barking at Islanders. Put that lead on. No this, no that. He fled.

His mother followed him, back to her birthplace. One of them will be missed.

I spotted that too. The scenery in Sweden only once ever reminded of NZ and that was when I was in an Australian pub and this Maori guy (who had been there for 10 years and still couldn't say "Hello" in Swedish) started a fight.

I presume from that comment that all we have to agree now is the price and delivery?

Just received an email from MAF.

Seems like an awful lot of hogwash is going on between NZ & Sweden but I must say that is was the best response I have EVER had from an official within a Government agency. I am impressed not only with how they are working on a resolution but the compassion they have showed in their understanding that it can't be very nice for my boy to be held up in prison.

And get this, Swedish authorities won't tell my ex where he is being held. Huh? We know where Guantanamo Bay is! This is also costing $300 per day for him to be temporarily held. I hope for this money they're licking his balls for him.

We had the same problem getting a dog from New Zealand to Norway... funny that, they're right next to each other. Cost us a helluva lot of money to begin with, then with holding the dog cost us even more. Thank christ she was out of there within a couple of days after NZ MAF detailed that the dog was clean blah blah blah.

She got back to the mountains in no time.. hopefully this gets sorted out for you soon too!

Lykke til ;)

Do they not have dogs in Sweden ? Even if they do not, would it not have been easier and cheaper to send one from say Germany or the UK ?

German dogs are nasty and arrogant. Dogs from the UK are just plain lazy.

One can understand why NZ is anal, there are a lot of animal related diseases we don't thankfully have, however I am not sure if there is one disease we have here that is not in Europe where borders can be traversed by roving stray beasts.

As to the other ships must be granted pratique before they are allowed to enter our waters if they are coming from certain countries yet a person from those same nations can be carrying potentially harmful viruses and acting as incubators with little or no screening. Some nations are wise enough to thermal scans of passengers and should they be running hot they ask questions, but here that would be considered invasive.

Europe where boarders can be traversed by roving stray beasts.

Enlightened countries like New Zealand have laws forbidding such practices.

You should have kept him and made the Lovely Lady buy another one, dogs are for life.

She's no skank. In fact she's a lovely girl. Our splitting up was a mutual decision (between me and her 7 friends) and in a moment of weakness, I regrettably gave her the dog which we got together.

Woot A correction by Hitcher, my first and no doubt not my last.

Thanks I will amend the offending post.

One of the reasons our dog 'immgration' is so strict is that NZ is rabies free.

"Your problem's cured with a dollar bill
and if it won't I know a flea collar will
I dug your brush and your ass was fine
I dug your jelly and your mighty mind
But you rubbed it on another guy
You're history and this is why
you're just a dog a scurvy dog.
arf! arf!"

Figured. There's a miniature lurking around here somewhere, he's a fookin' hoot.
