What ever!
If more people took pride in the appearance of their buckets we'd be in a better position to leverage sponsors and get better events going.
It also shows pride in your racing machine and that your prepared to put in the work to make it the best you can.
Big props to your mate Mark, Crazy Steve, pass on my encouragement to do more!

Wouldn't sponsored rides = certain riders with vastly superior bikes = Un fair racing, which means cheap goes out the door if you want to be competitive = point of bucket racing gone?

...Sigh.
Anyone can get sponsorship and sponsorship isn't always money that gets put into developing bikes.
Now that Number One also races our the team costs have basically doubled, if I was to go to some local business looking for a small amount of support and got it it would help immensely.
Do you think they'd want to sponsor me if our bikes looked like complete shitheaps? Would you put your company's logo on a bike that you though of as rough and untidy?
And it's not just riders, promoters/clubs need help too. Have a look at the 2007 (couldn't find the 08 one quickly enough) battle of the buckets poster (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=66307&d=1184652745), good example of presentation. Need I say more?

Yea thats fine and I'm not trying to deem what people should do, I was just assuming a bit of money would be going into buying things too expensive for the average bucket racer but I guess it wouldn't get to that level anyway, just free oil, gear discounts, stuff like that... As you were...

That green bucket is waaaaaaay good looking in real life. It's immaculate with great detail.
You just know it's going to result in tears though.

you cant get a faster Bucket just because you have money :woohoo:
you still need to know what to do to make it go realy fast
you can spend money on polishing the crank and pushrods
and it wont do a dam thing for you
you could grind out the inlet till it flowed mountains of air
still nothing but a boat anchor
ceramic coat everything and the girlfriend still nothing but a slower bike
you could put the biggest carb on :bash: :eek5:
or or or or
but if you cant find someone that knows the know then will you ever get a 50 going any faster than F5Dave ( Dont think so )
or a 100 faster than Nigel
you could hire a decent Rider that would help more than anything els
but where is the fun in that
Nice nsr pitty about the engine :oi-grr: needs to be a 2 stroke lol then it would be a REALY nice bike not just a nice bike :woohoo:
more nice Buckets please :woohoo:
ps I have know a lot of nice well painted buckets that slowly year after year get more dents scratches and Mod. They dont stay looking all nice and pretty for long sadly.:eek5::crybaby::wacko::argh:

Yeah, I was talking to him at the weekend. Nice bike!!!!! Pity I had to pass it a coupe of times :woohoo:
I've got no problem with well presented bikes, wish I had time to make mine look like that...........
Doesn't have to result in tears either, There are a few guys there that I've never seen dump their bikes..........
Also, in my opinion the Auckland crowd could do with a bit of encouragement when it comes to bike prep. Our bikes look rather dowdy compared to what I've seen from The South Island and has anybody checked out the Hawkes Bay bikes???? they're nice!!! I'm thinkin' of going down there for a weekend to see if they go as good as they look.......

I get your point but I was thinking more along the lines of a current year rs125 rolling chassis (not just an older one), tuned suspension etc. As for 50's, I'm keen to watch them next meet, I'm quite surprised they can actually haul full sized adults up to 100 or so you guys recon...

Your bike is a shining example of what a good bucket should look like!
During the 08 BoB I was mesmerised into watching your shiny tailpiece as you dragged your knee though the puddle in the right left in the infield before the carousel.
As the back tyre started to catch up with the front I decided that I should stop watching you!:shit:

Niiiice! Good on ya's. I'm one of those people who thinks that presentation helps our image and in time our popularity. It may not help to win races but helps with the pose off in the pits.

I agree wholeheartedly.
IMO, the day of slapped-together buckets looking dodgy is gone (esp if you want to race at Kaitoke :2guns:)
